There is no difference. A code is a code no matter what the packaging is.

You can input codes anytime. Even one straight after the other if you want (so you would have 24 months before expiry).

as aliasojo says the codes are the same, they come from the same kind of card that comes in a plastic looking dvd case,

Regarding the networking, we are using Home Plugs for Xbox 360 internet access. The work well, easy to set up and cheaper than buying the MS wireless adaptor.
