My son has just got a new xbox, he now wants the live bit which we believe to be about £50 a year. He has the arcade version. What is the best way to go about buying this, is the wireless version as good as connection via cable? Can we get a cheaper live subscription from eleswhere or do we need to buy it from microsoft? We have a leaflet with the xbox which advertises 60gb live starter pack, is this a good deal?
sorry for questions but really don't understand any of this.
Thanks

First question you can get subscriptions for around £30 for a 12 month sub, no need to get the subscriptions from ms, ive used ebay for 1 before but check the seller out first and ask questions, heres another site
second, where is the router in relation the xbox, if the 2 are close together then id go with wired but if theres distance between the 2 eg stairs, various floors then maybe wireless is the option,
with the arcade on its own he would be able to save his progress as it has a 512mb Internal Memory but any demos he downloads then he wouldnt be able to play them as not enough room so the starter pack is good as a 60gb hard drive(sorry about the bold, cant get rid)
you know you could have bought an elite for about £199 which includes a 120gb hard drive, mic and you could have got an extra controller as part of a package but whats done is done0 -

I've also just bought 12 months off the above site mentioned by aliasojo. No problems and cheap as processor chips- Microsoft wanted 40 quid, this was 26 quid0

I'd have recommended Cheapxboxlivecodes.com as that's who I've been using lately, though looking at that and the ElectronicFirst site together, I wonder if they're actually the same company as the basic layout and many of the graphics are the same.Dave. :wave:0

My 3 month membership that came with the Xbox runs out 1st April. Do I have to wait until 1st to put a new code in or can I do it earlier?
Edit, found it on the link. Not having a good day lol.0 -
Does anyone know the difference between buying the code online off a website or ebay where they send you the code and going into a store and buying the XBOX live in the sealed case...? Seems there must be a difference...
maxtweenie- apparently you can add a new code in advance or at the very least buy one cheap to top-it up when the current subscription expires0
