debenhams wont refund !

hey , im wondering if anyone can help me .
i bought a julian mcdonald dress on fri from debinhams and had a 10% discount due to a rip in the seam. i was told that it is now non refundable due to the discount, i assumed that meant if i changed my mind and wanted to take it back.
after wearing it last night all but a few of the embelishments around the neck have come off:( .
i just rang debenhams and they told me that i cant return it due to the discount .....but surely this is a faulty garment and regardless of the discount should be refunded. it is a different fault to the one i obtained a discount for so i dont see why it matters ???
the dress is now unwearable as the neckline is the main feature of it ... i didnt pay £50 to wear something once !!
so are they wrong ,, can i insist on a refund ???
thanks in advance , em

I think as they sold you a "faulty" dress with discount you would have problems saying that the dress is "faulty" Unless of course the defect was specified on the receipt. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0

no its not specified , but u can see on the inside seam where i have repaired it from the original . if you could see the state on the dress you would see that no one would pay for it in its condition now, discount or not .0

If it is a separate defect that wasn't pointed out at the time of sale, you are entitled to reject it.0

I agree with post 4.0

depends,if it had a faulty label that didnt state the fault then the OP will struggle0 -

well just spoke to the manager after the supervisor was totally rude to me, and he said their policy is not to refund even if a different fault later occurs ! i wasn't told that when i bought it. so even if their was a tag stating the fault it doesn't matter , i wouldn't get my money bk anyway. Im so dissapointed all that money for nothing

write a nice letter to both debenhams customer service and julian mcdonald simply explaining what has happened. might not get you any further but worth a go0

Sorry but post says you were told it was non refundable-without saying anything about further defects or any other circumstances.
If you feel Debenhams are wrong, Trading standards are the best bet. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0 -
If you have no luck getting a refund, can you get crafty and repair the embelishments?
If not, a seamstress may be able to do it for a few pounds. It will be worth it if you really love the dress."It's official, MSE's harbouring total fruitcakes">^..^<0
