Hi,
Just as in the title really, if the postage option is collect in person / local pickup - can a buyer win & assume they can send a courier please?
Thanks

No they cant assume that. After all it will need packing safely and labelling. You would need to stay in all day for collection Also.
And If the buyer opened a dispute with paypal you may not have a tracking number.
Stupid buyer0 -

well to be honest i don't think the buyer should just assume as the seller would have to pack for transit if you know what i mean, so seller would still have to use some materials would cost them. they should contact before auction end to ask firstCan you see the mountains through the fog?0 -

edit to add, exactly what previos poster has said, gavjbrown you explained that much better than meCan you see the mountains through the fog?0 -
Also, couriers don't usually give a specific pick up time, they just say "morning" or "afternoon" meaning seller may have to wait in all day.
Buyers should never assume anything - this is what causes many of the problems on Ebay, a simple question would solve a lot!:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0 -
Thanks well a few people did ask on my items and each one I said no due to not having suitable packaging & I put the Q&A to show on the listing & then it seems the two highest bidders are nowhere near me & then the winner contacts me & says can they arrange a courier. I said no, due to not having suitable packaging so they said can I put it in bin bags, so I said no again but I don't want to get into trouble. So now I'm waiting for them to message me back about not going through with the sale.
It does get a little tiresome when people don't read the questions that have already been asked -being common questions0 -
Had this once before and the buyer made no attempt to contact me before. So I politely told him that I would happily accept a courier if he could arrange pick up from 6pm onwards of an evening, or from 10am - noon on a sunday as I'm not in any other times!
Buyer got !!!!!! saying thats not fair etc etc, I told him it's not my fault I have a full time job and a part time job!Green and White Barmy Army!0 -
What about tell him that courier is fine but you will need extra for materials and 1 hour labour to parcel it up. Plus 1 day off work (cost at same rate as your workplace) to wait in for the courier.0

Lol, we've cancelled the sale & I'm on maternity leave so I have couriered for my first time ever recently, but there's no way I'd go round looking for a sizeable box & packing stuff even if I did charge for them, also according to ebay boards if something did go wrong in transit, I wouldn't have a leg to stand on
Good learning I suppose - I'll make it clear in my listing from now on that local sales are for collect in person & no you can't send a courierIf they do email after that then it just goes to show people don't read listings properly

I've had my fingers burnt in a similar situation. As far as i know, there are no couriers that will come at a set time, pay the cash on collection, have the right materials and pack the goods up ready for delivery.
I've learnt that the tail should never wag the dog.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
No they shouldn't!!
