double take studios

My heart was beating so fast today out of pure panic that i was going to be charged £125...

I received a phone call yesterday to say a friend of mine had put my name down to receive a phone shoot for free, me and someone else.

It all sounded too good to be true, so even though i was under pressure on the phone to book i asked them to ring back today when id found someone to take with me.

In the mean time i contacted the person who had put me down and she sent me through the photos she had done, they're lovely.

So thought id go ahead with it and me and my OH would go. Booked it for next Sunday, £1 booking fee each. I checked and tripple checked that no other cost would be involved as it was something in the region of £200 if you just book without someone recommending you etc.

Then decided to look at the website and see the example photos etc and stumbled across the prices for photos, the cheapest photo was £70 if i remember right . I don't have £70 to pay for just 1 photo.

Then i panicked cos i read the T/C's and if my photo shoot was within 7 days id be charged £125 for cancelling and they'd used the details id paid my booking fee with. Mine was in 8 days time, thank goodness i checked the website today and not tomorrow as otherwise wouldn't of been able to cancel.

You don't get the booking fee back either, but £2 is no big deal. However the further in advance you book the more expensive it is, if id booked for the 20th March it would of been £15 booking fee each, £30 down the drain when i cancelled had i of gone for that date.

I know i probably should of asked more questions or checked the website yesterday, but just didn't think too, but too drawn in by this fee shoot and of course they told me how it would of normally cost which made me even more tempted and is why i booked.

Have never been so nervous in my life thinking id loose £125....

There are lots of stories about companies like this on here....

DT got over £400 from me with hard sell tactics - the photographer was brilliant, really put me at ease, photos were great, the guys who showed them to us were great (and hot !) but they knew exactly what to say to make us buy....

when I got my photos sent through, they hadnt given me one that I KNOW I ordered - cos I can clearly remember the conversation I had with the man about wether or not they could get rid of the remaining stickers that were showing on the bottom of my shoes, with him saying that wouldnt be a problem.

I emailed as soon as I realised - and got told that I was wrong - I hadnt ordered that photo at all, but if I wanted to BUY it, I needed to reply with payment by the next day,as my 7 days were almost up. ( I didnt - for the same reason you cancelled - I really couldnt afford another £70 for a pic that I had ordered already!!!) so I sent them a very ranty email back, pointing out that I know exactly what Id ordered - I had the list which clearly states what I ordered, including the photo in question, and it wasnt my fault that they had got it wrong - but they STILL insisted that it was me that was in the wrong.

    !!!!!!!s.!!!!

  • Yikes, £400, they're good. Sorry you had to go through all that though, i don't wish it on anyone and then to not get what you'd ordered and be told you're wrong is just another tactic in my eyes to get more money out of you.

Must admit it took 2 calls to cancel, cos 1st time i rang up i got a women telling me how lucky i was that i got her as she had just been given permission to tell customers about an incentive that should of going out mid March, it was that myself and my OH would get a £100 voucher each to put towards purchasing photos. It worked because i asked if i could think about it and she said she'd phone back in 15mins.

When i mentioned this to my OH he used a few explicts and told me it was a ploy just to get us to keep the appointment and everything was looking suspicious with it all only now being for £2 and not having to pay anything for any photos.

I rang back within 5 and got a different lady, who then said, you only booked 15 mins ago are you sure about this, when i said yes she didn't press me any further, thank goodness...

The Customer Care Manager you need permission to post as company rep see below

My advice is not to post rep until you have permission as you may be banned and have post removed until they can validate who you are

my experience, taking the photos was ok photographer didn't talk much (although cousin I went with said hers was nice) BUT they really try and hard sell the pictures to you, we were kept in a room with the photos for 2 hours (left the pictures playing and just left us in the room came back every 40mins ish to try and get us to buy), even though at the start I said I didn't want to buy any prints the person who was trying to sell us the pictures told us we'd wasted the last 2 hours because we didn't buy anything. I was 16 at the time told them I had no money to buy anything and they kept trying to get me to call my mum and ask her for money and if I had pocket money I could pay towards the pictures.
Evently they said I could take the contact sheet they showed us in exchange for the deposit (£30) I scanned these into the computer so I have all my pictures granted not the best quality but they print well. realistically I only like 2/3 pictures, some just turned out odd. Showed these to a friend photographer a couple of years ago he said they tried to do a few effects which they'd basically messed up (trust him 100% he was even our wedding photographer and we had fantastic shots)
    Yes Your Dukeiness :D

They are a scam and the Customer Care manager is trying to appease posters so they look like a reputable company and that people who search them via google and the like dont realise they are a scam

Bear in mind that you don't own the copyright on the pictures, so reproducing them in this way isn't allowed. Though it's unlikely you'd be caught/have any action taken against you.
