AOL / o2 ???

Had a visit from talk talk rep yesterday who told me that they had completed their work at our local exchange, and that I now need to change my contrct from AOL ( only just taken it out for 18 months) to talk talk, as it is the same company, and talk talk are trying to get everyone on the same contrct. When ( not if) I did this, my BB would be free ( currently £9.99 aol) and so would my telephone calls ( currently free aol) and line rental ( currently £11 pm BT). I asked how long for and she said forever??
I don't particularly want to change - have been with aol for 15 years and am fairly happy with them. I also think I would be penalised by aol if i change - she said i wouldn't - same company again.....
It was if it was expected that i change, not that I had any choice:question:
Can anyone enlighten me as to what is going on please?

O2 has absolutely no connection with AOL (the former is owned by Telefonica, the latter in the UK by CPW). To the best of my knowledge O2 do not employ door to door saleswomen either. Are you seriously saying that she said that you could get free broadband, free line rental and free calls-forever? You didn't think that just a little bit too good to be true?
And yes, you will certainly be charged an early termination fee by AOL if you have just signed up for 18m.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Yes I am seriously saying that !! That is exactly what she said, and NO I did not believe her. That is why I put it on this forum to try to find out if anyone else had had this, and what is going on. - but thanks for your reply.0

Has to be some sort of scam-just trying to gain access to your property, or your bank account details? Did you ask her for some ID?
Did she know you were already with AOL though? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I mentioned this to my husband tonight - what a dumbo I am - it was Talk talk not o2!! I didn't give any details, just told her to send all of the info in writing and we would look at it. Seems really strange. She had ID that looked ok, but then agin what do i know lol. Will wait to see what comes through the post...... if anything.0
