I am thinking of getting a new dog. I am an experienced Jack Russell owner and would like another.
I am not concerned about its pedigree status and it could be a cross with another terrier. My local animal sanctuaries only have adult dogs which are quite old at the moment. I have nothing against older dogs, I've had them before but this time, I'd like a younger dog/puppy.
I am wary of using websites to find a puppy, paranoid perhaps but there we are and pedigree parsons breeders charge a fortune.
Can anyone think of anywhere else I can find the above? I live in West Yorkshire.
Thanks

Jack Russells are the second most common breed in rescues, and there are often lots of youngsters who prove too lively for their owners, who expected a quiet little lap dog! However, pups are often rehomed quickly, so if you are looking for a pup, it may be a case of contacting some rescues and letting them know you are looking..
Where in West Yorkshire are you? The Mayflower at Bawtry is a lovely rescue, but I am guessing thats a bit far south for you? Have you looked at the dogs trust at Leeds? How about posting a home offered ad on dogpages? My dad adopted a JRT privately through this website, but for preference I would go through a rescue - rescues do post jack russells on here too though...

Yes, I've registered with Dogs' Trust.
The advert idea is a good one.
My other dogs were rescue dogs but they were a little older.

We got our little Jack Russell from Dogs Trust. We made loads of visits and were prepared to wait several months until we found the dog we wanted. She was certainly worth the wait! The total cost was £75 and she was 'ready to go'... spayed, wormed, jabs, collar, lead and 2 weeks worth of food , 1months insurance and micro chipped!
We thought about a puppy , at first, but decided on a rescue dog so that we weren't unknowingly supporting ' puppy farms'.
Our dog is about 2 years ols and is very puppy like. She loves to play, chase foxes and curl up on our lap.
 Good luck with your hunt

 Keep us informed please
I just googled "Jack Russell Terrier Rescue West Yorkshire" and he was top of the list!!
He looks an absolute star and I have a really strong feeling about him :j“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0

Scammo - if you can't find a rescue JRT that you will be able to get on with, try searching online for JRT litters on farms in west yorks. I DO NOT mean puppy farms, but proper decent working farms. Try searching around Cumbria as well.................. ....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 ....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0

Aww our pup JRT is 8 weeks old and a little Star but yes sadly many end up in rescue centres. Our rescue gets quite a few in. JRT and Staffies are the top two who end up in rescues with Staffies being the worst.
Goodluck with Alfie hope you get him 0 0
