Yes, but removing the modem drivers will neither give you more drive space nor make the machine perform faster. Not at all. IMHO
Of course it will. It will not, in itself, improve performance but it cannot but improve drive space. Why would you say otherwise? And to adopt your approach to every little thing that can be uninstalled over the years and months results in HUGE waste of disk space.0 -

It makes little or no difference uninstalling your modem drivers.
You may need them one day if for instance you have problems with your broadband connection and your isp issues you with a dial up number to use untill the problem has been sorted out.0 -

Uninstalling drivers should only ever be done when they cause a problem with your installation. The files in question will only be a few kilobytes in size. Many devices actually share driver files and although it is unlikely another hardware device is using the modem drivers, it is still unadvisable to uninstall them. The best thing to do would be to go to device manager (control panel in Windows xp or type into start bar for 7) and disable the modem here. This may reduce resources used, but will have very little impact on your system.
To help declutter a computer system, there is little better than CCleaner, which is free of charge and one of the best programs to cleanse your browsing history, increasing the security of your system. Download from http://www.ccleaner.com/Freebies you don't really need can be given to your local Hospice Charity shop so they can raise funds they desperately need. Pass on your good fortune :A0
