OK well he needs to do his sums and decide whether he wants to shell out TT's installation fee. I think it'll be worthwhile and that he'll recoup that cost in less than a year if he goes with TT.

I guess it would be good if TT had an offer whereby they would instal the exchange line for free. It could happen I suppose.

I've just noticed that if he was to take the Broadband Essentials package and he routed his order via Quidco, then he could net £50 cashback. That would be offset the line installation charge of £69.99. So, assuming the free broadband connection fee is still on offer, it doesn't look half bad.

TalkTalk is not a broadband provider I'd ever want to go back to. I'm happy with VM.

A call to retentions should get him a good price and at least cable broadband is more robust.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!
(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)

TT are ok really, no worse than BT with regards to customer service.

I had a problem with TT a couple of years back, detailed on this site somewhere. There was an exchange line fault, calls dropping and broadband dropout, and it took them nearly two months before they allocated it to an engineer. I knew there was a line fault but they kept using avoidance tactics until I almost went mad. One of their reps on here took up the problem and it was sorted within a couple of days. The wire pair on the telegraph pole outside of the house was rotted. The engineer stripped the pair back and reconnected the wires and all was well.

I made them pay me around six months worth of line rental as compensation.
