Threat detected - help!

Hi all,

I'm new here but would really appreciate your help.

A few days ago our laptop started redirecting links from google searches to advert sites and since then we have been getting tabs opening randomly with other ad sites. At the same time (but may not be related?) AVG free has been telling us that a Threat is detected called 'Trojan Horse Pakes.AV'. We have been repeatedly sending it to the virus vault.

I have read numerous threads and tried the following: Malwarebytes Anti malware, Super antispyware and Spybot - search & destroy but the problems are still occuring.

I'm not a computer whizz - I'm really on the edge of my understanding of these things. Any further help would be really welcome - thanks.

Please open malwarebytes, goto LOGS and post the WHOLE of the last log

Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')

Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)


Download HostsXpert

and then follow the below steps.

* Unzip HostsXpert.zip
* It will create a folder named HostsXpert in whatever folder you extract it to.
* Run HostsXpert.exe by double clicking on it.
* click the Make Writeable? button.
* click Restore Microsoft's Hosts File and then click OK.
* Click the X to exit the program

I've fixed the 4 items with Hijack This. Should I re-run the scan?

Yes, it's still redirecting from google search and still regularly getting messages from avg about the threat detected
