Time to haggle for better Orange tarrif?
Hi hope someone can help
My orange 18 month contract came to an end recently and I need to choose a new mobile by Monday.
At the moment I pay £30 a month and get 400 mins and 300 tx unlimited landline.
So Orange ring yesterday and offer me an upgrade on phone to Nokia 6700 classic I have Nokia 6500 classic at the mo, Im ok with the phone upgrade. I wanted the Iphone but they said my pay level is too low im on a 3 and need to be on level 5 and pay 40 + a month to get Iphone.
Anyway they are 'offering' the Nokia 6700 and 10% discount on my bill so it goes to £27 ish a month and keep the 400 mins and 300 tx tarrif. all for another 18months.
Have any of you haggled for a better deal? Should I ask for more? such as a 1GB memory card for the new phone? or will they not budge on any thing?
This is going to be my 3rd 18 month contract if I agree.
Ideally I would like to pay £25 a month or less. The mins and tx allowance is fine for me but would not like it to be less.
Also the guy from Orange said NO ONE does 12 month contracts anymore so it Has to be 18 months, is that true?
Should I quote other mobile company tarrifs such as O2 doing 500 mins unlimited tx for less money?
Hope someone can help:)

Read this MoneySavingExpert article, it explains how to get the bets mobile deal...thenSee this Orange Retentions thread
In short, to get a better deal, click the option for thinking ofleaving Orange and explain to them that o" offer this and this is what you want. Hold your ground and know what you want, but be polite.
I'm currently on a 12 month contract, it's actually up now and I'mdue to upgrade, will probably go to 18 month.
12 month is available, but you wont get as good of a deal, especially on your banding:
Orange band customers 1-5 (I think).
Basically, it tells them how much profit they have made of you during your contract, 5 being the highest and 1 being the lowest; the higher you are the better deal they will give you.
I'd say given that you want a relatively low spec'd phone, youcould easily get your contract to £20 p/m.
Read the thread and article that I posted though, they will really help.0 -

Not too bad, maybe should have pushed for an HTC hero... but thats just because I don'tlike Nokias that much and the HTC would be better for the web, or maybe the BB 8520.0
