What package would you suggest - currently on Sky

I have it all with Sky. Telephone line, internet (unlimited), free calls (costs £5 a month though), TV with 2 options.
So I pay:
Line rental - £11.00
Talk Unlimited - £5.00
Internet - £15.00
Discount - (£5.00)
Sky TV 2 pack - £18.50
So without any calls, I pay £44.50
My contract is nearly up so I am looking around a bit. Trouble is that I don't use much at all on mobile so I have Asda PAYG. So going to o2 would increase my costs a bit.
I also have an ex BT and now cancelled Talk Talk line (2 phone lines in property). However, TT are being right pains in the backside on this one so I am not sure BT could just "take it back".
I am fairly happy with Sky but not on the BB. They cancelled my mid package and then upgraded me at an extra £5 a month. My telephone cannot call 0845 for free but can call 0870. I rarely have any telephone charges at all.
I need the TV. I do not even consider not having Sky but I get no cashback and Sky retention deals are not always good, especially as I have no need for extra rooms or HD.
I could get around £100 cashback by moving to o2. Virgin is not available. My number is ok on that checker thing but I only get about 7mb down due to high attenuation.
Effectively I am paying £26 a month for BB and some useful telephone. I would like suggestions on how to reduce this.

What BB speed are you actually getting? I signed up for 20 meg broadband from Sky but when I did a speed test I was only getting 3 meg. I rang Sky and queried it and was told that was as fast as it would go in my area so I cut it right back to the free broadband and haven't noticed my internet being any slower.
What is talk unlimited? AFAIK Im paying £11 line rental per month an getting all my evening and weekend landline calls free anyway? Give them a call and tell them you want it reduced or you are going back to BT.:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0 -

As I said, I am getting 7mb down and about 700 up. This is due to my attenuation.
Talk unlimited is £5 a month and daytime calls are free. That saves money as I don't have to use a mobile and usually find geographic numbers for 0845/0844 etc.
Going back to BT as you put it does not answer the question, which is what to do about BB. If I leave Sky Talk, I have to change the internet. I will keep the TV.0 -
Can't you still have Sky bb as long as you keep the TV sub, regardless of phone (assumingthe line is not LLU'd)? If the line is already LLU'd to Sky, you have to take the line back to BT in order to get broadband with any other supplier. But I'm assuming that since you're paying £15, you're only on Sky Conbect bb?
Broadband is exchange specific, so not possible to give advice without knowing your exchange. Look your LLU options, these will be the best deals.

PS: 'only' 7MBps is very good on a standard ADSL line that will support 8 Mbps!No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

The line was "put it" by Sky which is cobblers as I already had two lines in the property but they hooked one up to an existing faceplate. I did that because the other line was "locked" to Talk Talk and I could get no sense from these idiots and if you think that at the time I had no internet, a baby to care for and perhaps an hour a day in the library for internet, I had to take whatever I could get without all the information to hand.
I guess Sky have screwed things up a bit on this line but in reality I cannot fault them, though others get 20mb speeds.
It is just that they screw me over for £5 a month on unlimited BB as they removed the Everyday one (10mb I think). I also have to pay line rental but I don't need a phone. I use it but I do so only because I have no choice other than to pay for it.
Basically, the way I look at it, my BB costs £21 a month and my calls £5 a month. I don't need a line except for BB so perhaps that is where I feel a little "cheated".
I also get no freebies so seeing cashbacks for o2 and the like makes me feel I'm overpaying and missing out. That narks me and I want a better deal.0 -
I ran through some figures earlier today and calculated that if you order virgin phone, broadband and tv before 0000 tonight via topcashback.com you will pay less than if you ordered the broadband on its own!
XL 20mb broadband on its own costs £345 per year including the (massive) £15 discount on the first 3 months.
Thats compared to £237 per year for the same broadband plus tv (M+) and phone (M). Or an effective monthly cost of £28.75 and £19.75 respectively.
Thats taking account of line rental costs, cashback (for the bundle) and the discounts virgin includes (first 2 months free with bundle purchase).
However this does not include installation costs which are free with a bundle purchase but not with solo broadband.
We don't want the TV and will not be paying for a TV license but if you do/are already its definitely a deal.
The cashback deal ends at 0000 tonight so its probably worth ordering even if your not sure and cancelling during the grace period just so you can claim the cashback.
FYI the yearly costs for the L, XL and XXL broadband on their own are £225, £345 and £441 respectively compared to £152, £237 and £317 if you take phone and tv with it and get the cashback.0
