I want Dollars - better exchange rate in the UK or US???

I'm going to America in a few weeks time and obviously need spending money. I've had my eye on the exchange rates over the past few weeks and every day it has been dropping, currently only $1.43 to the pound.
Should I buy here or am I likely to get a better exchange rate either at Heathrow or in the States.
Many thanks

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. where on earth are you seeing $1.43 to £1? It's low, but it's not that low anywhere I have seen.

Crown Currency Exchange are offering a rate of $1.51 for delivery between 9th and 19th March. You order online with them, pay by cheque or debit card and they post you the cash. I have used them a few times and found their rate to be about the best.0

It was $1.43 to the £ in the Post Office. Have been looking around today and the best I could find was $1.46 M&S and Tesco.0 -
You will definitely get a worse rate at Heathrow unless you preorder through Travelex. You will probably get a worse rate in the US.0
