BT privacy charge

Hi
Just a heads up - I recently changed my calls back to BT as Talktalk had stopped me using 1280 to get the required free calls to get caller display for free. However BT applied a charge for caller display even though I made 6 calls (the required amount) in the quarter. On the bill it says 'you did not make the required 2 calls per month' (obviosuly not because I was unable to after 1280 was blocked), but the terms state 2 calls per month or 6 per quarter. I contacted BT and to be fair they refunded the amount straight away, but there is obviously an error in the billing system and it is worth asking for a refund if you have a similar error on your bill.

It wasn't an error because the requirement is 2 calls per month if you are on monthly billing OR 6 calls per quarter if you are on quarterly billing.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Yes, and I am on quarterly billing and was charged even though I had made 6 calls in the quarter, so it was an error.0

Thanks for the offer, but the problem has been sorted already via your online complaints people.0 -

Yes but depends on who your CPS provider is. For example if it's Sky you won't be able to hop back onto BT.0 -
Last month they charged me £10.77 for caller display and 1571. It has taken them 2 quarterly bills (6 months) to change me to the monthly billing I requested at the start! I have now been put on to the monthly billing, and the money should be refunded to this months bill - just got to keep my eye out for it. There was no problem with them saying they would refund it, once they checked I had made the required call and more. I am not with any other provider, but have a reasonable number of mobile minutes so use that most of the time. The BT phone tends to get used if we have to call an 0845 or similar number (always check saynoto0870 first). Its like their computer systems just charge you no matter what, and you have to 'claim' it back. I wish I could take money off of them and put it in my savings until they claimed it back from me! lol:rotfl:0

Good Afternoon,
I am sorry if this is a very simple question but I am with sky for my calls package and with bt for my line rental, I am in the process of moving hiome and I have been advised that in order to get a discount on my new connection charge I have to make 10 calls per month through BT, how do I do this when I am with sky?
Thanks

You cannot if you retain Sky as your calls provider - because Sky now use WCLI and so the 1280 prefix which used to override Sky's CPS calls provision, no longer does.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Thank you for your response but what does WCLI mean? Thanks0
