To be honest, at age 4, I would probably give it a miss unless we were good friends.0

Agree with Rosie-Lee, unless I was really good friends with them I wouldn't bother going, it's the one day a year DH is supposed to wait on me hand and foot.
Also I think most people will plan to visit their own mothers and MILs, grandparents etc on the day so will probably be too busy to turn up.0 -
It is my DD's 3rd birthday on 14th March & we are having her party on Sat 13th as we thought people would be busy doing family things.
I would say go for the Sat unless you are prepared for a lot of people to be unable to make it.
Sorry!0 -
I wouldn't have a problem with it provided my hubby and the kids had already proffered the obligatory bunch of half wilted daffs and brought me up tea and toast (crumbs in the bed is part of the day, isn't it?) for breakfast.
There is always the point that some daughters in law might actually welcome the chance to avoid spending all afternoon worshipping M-i-L by saying sorry, we have a party to go to - can't stay too long!0 -
I thought it may be ok she is inviting 25 of her bestest friends - (i love how she has 25 bestest friends) so if a few cant make it we can always widen the net.
Also dont most mums get breakfast / kids homemade prezzie/ somthing hubby bought in the garage first thing in the morning then pretty much forgotton about?"Oh, you hate your job? Why didn't you say so? There's a support group for that. It's called EVERYBODY, and they meet at the bar.":beer:0 -
I'm not a Mum yet but I would think you'd be ok by the afternoon. Some of the mum's might consider it a treat to have the little ones out the way for an hour lolMummy to Thomas born April 27th 2010 8lb 5oz0

With that number it should not be so bad.
We are inviting 4 "families"
First, 3 children, have both sets of family local & I know they do the whole visiting both sets of parents, lunch with one set, afternoon with the other.
2nd, 3 children, did not know if they would be having family visiting for the weekend. Going out for a few hours the day before is not too bad but they probably could not escape on the Sunday.
3rd, 1 child, would be going to visit one or other sets of parents, all day.
4th, 2 children, would have been able to make it!
Also a Mum from school is coming to do some sparkly tattoos & I suspect she would have plans for the Sunday.
Have fun whatever you end up doing.0 -
It should be ok. My birthday has often clashed with mothers day and we always managed some sort of afternoon party without upsetting anyone. I think its the sweet things like cups of tea etc in the morning that really touched my heart. I wouldn't worry about taking the children to a party later in the day. This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0 -
I wouldn't have a problem with my children going to a party in the afternoon - we woyld fit a nice vreakfast/lunch etc around the party.0

My daughter's party has fallen the same and we have booked it for the 14th thinking perhaps she might not have many coming due to it being Mother's Day but so far we have had noone saying they're not coming so still have 25ish coming, so much for moneysaving:beer: Thank you so much to all who post xx :beer:0
