This is my first post, I check this site all the time but now feel, I must share what has happened to me to save any parents going through the same.
I booked a girls pamper party for my daughters 7th birthday through a company on the net with great reviews, I paid in full as she offered a 10% discount to pay in full through Google check out, A week before the party I tried to contact her to confirm everything was in place and ok, her website was down, emails I sent got returned as unknown recipient, I tried to call all of the various numbers she has, I left messages I heard nothing, by now I feel I have been conned, so I called Consumer Direct who stated I had no case till she did not turn up, I got a friend to text the company again and got a reply stating she would be at the party, this still did not put my mind at rest so I texted asking why she would not contact me, she replied with don't be funny about it, I then called the number and to my suprise she answered well to cut a long story short she said she could not cope with her job, I stated I had lost faith and wanted a refund she refused and slammed the phone down on me.
I now have a devastated child, but through some investigation have found lots of parents who have booked parties and she never arrived, we are contacting Consumer Direct again so she can be stopped from ruining kids dream parties.

Mmmmm.............wonder where she's from? I had a pamper party for my 13yr old last September, and the woman came but rushed the party and wasn't very laid back with the girls - all she seemed to want to do was get her money and run! Never again would I have her come for a party.

  • Thanks I have managed to get another company who are doing the party for me, it was touch and go as the party is tomorrow, I am still in shock about what happened, when I did contact her she just kept saying "I am only 21 and the business has just got out of hand"
I did not care how old she was, she should not be taking bookings and payments if her company can not cope.:(
  • Just a quick update my daughter has had her party and the company who came at such short notice where amazing, I can not praise them enough they where meant to be having today off and going away but were so upset about what happened to my daughter agreed to do the party.
In the mean time I have had another parent on the phone to me in tears who had booked the company who I have had problems with her daughter was having her party today and they never arrived her daughter is only 8 and devastated The company is from the West Midlands area, please beware of booking with them.

Unless I've missed it, you really need to name and shame the company if you want to prevent others from being scammed.

You should also name the company who came to your rescue, if they were that amazing :)

What a nightmare, how upsetting for you all. You should consider going through the small claims court to recover your money if you get no joy with Trading Standards/Consumer Direct. It costs around £40 and can be done online. I do not see why you cannot have a full refund immediately - she has not incurred any costs and failed to provide what you paid for.

It would be great if you could name the dodgy company and the good one too.
  • Sorry I completely forgot to name the company that let me and other parents down it is Little Divaz UK and the company that came to the rescue were Popsters Disco Parties and they were great.
I also got another call last night about Little Divaz not even showing up to a party, so I guess in a way I was lucky to realise something was wrong beforehand and had the chance to get another comapny in, these other parents were left with heart broken girls expecting pampering and chocolate fountains and they got nothing and no company was available at such short notice.
Thanks for the advice, I have sent my letter requesting a refund and will see what happens.

Trust me this is not meant as a slight on you,i have a six year old daughter and know how finiky they can be.

whatever happened to the days when your children had a party, invited there friends round for some music and games and some party food,im not talking jelly and ice cream here, but you could also invite a friend who does makeovers..and so on.

It seems that the parties these days have to be more extravagant than the last,as i said trust me im not slighting you for wanting your daughter to have the best party, its just a shame that the old jelly and ice cream days seem to be gone.

I would just like to point out the party listed above was not the party I went for, I paid for the High School Musical theme party, and I decided to book it as a really special treat for my daughter who through illness has missed out on a lot of parties some her own and others she has been invited to.
Obviously there seems to be some dissaproval on this site for what I booked, I did not post to be judged just to warn others of what has happened and hopefully protect other parents from having heart broken children, at present I have been contacted by 7 parents who have all had there parties either cancelled an hour before or where they have never shown up.
