sorry for sounding like a noob but what is 18185

    Put "18185" into Google.
is it a company that you join and put that number before you key in the number of the person you want to call - if so that seems like a lot of hassle, I dont have speed dial on my phones
It is. For UK calls it is worth the hassle.

Paying 5p for a one hour call which, on BT, would cost over £3, tends to relieve the hassle of keying in a 5-digit prefix!
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

    what does non-inclusive calls mean
I only call landlines in the u.k are those ones free with no connection charge

It means calls not included in your current package, i.e. if you are on a E&W package, it will not include daytime calls. No, UK landlines have a connection charge if they are non-inclusive.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

I contacted B.T and they refused to release me from my rolling evening+weekend contract, I explained that as they had changed the terms of the contract it made the current contract void but the women I spoke to disagreed but she told me she would send a query to the offline team on my behalf to check out the contract, BUT she did tell me that B.T have a similar scheme to primus saver - day, evening +weekend (currently £15.98) its called B.T anytime plan which offers free calls 24 hours a day to landlines in Britain for £17.78 a month, but she would offer it to me for £16.78 including V.A.T a month because she felt I had been on the wrong call plan for so long (my last quarterly bill was £140) so I have signed up to that
