I considered upgrading to the Platinum account when I was looking at buying a new car. I had planned to buy a pre-owned vehicle and it was worth paying the premium on the bank account for the breakdown cover alone. I was also going on holiday that year, so the travel insurance was useful and the mobile phone cover was too. However, I ended buying a car that came with 3yrs breakdown cover included, so in the end I didn't upgrade the account. (It then became cheaper to buy specific travel insurance and I discovered my home insurance policy covered my phone.)

You need to look at the extras and work out on an individual basis if it's worth paying for.

Had the account for years ( gold prior)

Used AA cover ( they come out just as if you were an aa member- used 3 times in 5 yrs)

Travel Insurance..( family worldwide) . no problems , had reason to claim for baggage stolen, plus used medical helpline for advice whilst abroad

Mobile phone... son's phone replaced after loss last year

£180 pa suppose it about right for the extras, and gives access to a fair interest rate ( I would have not moved account to get an interest bearing account eslewhere)

The premier fee is increasing to £25, and the 'must earn £60k per year' rule is also being lifted.

They are not accepting any new premier registrations until the new fee is in. The premier banking service is also being stopped. Calls will now be answered by the same people (possibly India - depending on your luck) who answer all calls. The premier account will now simply be another 'added value account'.

    Hope This Helps.
Whilst my posts do not constitute financial advice, I am always, without fail, 100% right! :D

Got the paperwork about this yesterday, haven't read all the details but the fee increase doen't start until January for existing accounts. It did say something about phoning up your Premier Manager & how it would goto a call centre instead. However I've never had a single call to Lloyds Premier goto India & the service was sold to me on this fact by my branch when I opened the account.

Blimey £25 a month - thats a bit steep! I'm sure by using this sites advice/tips you could get everything included in this package for less than 12 x £25...

They say they commissioned independent research to find out what you would like to add to your Premier Banking Srvice.
I do not think they shared the results of what customers were willing to pay!
For £300 pa for full AA, full travel insurance, mobile phone cover, ID theft and Experian notifications, and Home Emergency Cover it is not really that steep. It only is expensive if you do not use one of the major components.

Yes, three months ago I used the travel insurance for a damaged camera. The OH managed to damage the 3" screen making the camera inoperative. I sent them the camera to be assessed, they sent me a cheque approx 10 days later for the cost of a replacement. AXA handled the initial stage of the process and then passed it over to another insurance Co (can't think of the name) to complete the claim. All in all the claim took about 3-4 weeks and I have no complaints at all.
Better still, my benefits with LLoyds are "FREE" (I don't pay a monthly fee), but that's only because I have an original Gold account and as long I keep a minimum of £2000 in the account the monthly fee (normally £10) is waived. This account is NO longer available.
I could put the £2000 into savings, but the benefits outweigh the possible interest earnt after tax.

Benefits include :- Travel Insurance, Mobile Insurance, AA Cover, Sentinel and a few other minor bits n pieces.

Just been away. Whilst sorting things out it transpired that my vehicle recovery insurance wasn't valid in Europe, so had to take out separate AA cover. Then while visiting friends in Cologne got my bike nicked. Tried to claim on my LTSB Platinum travel insurance, and was told that bikes are excluded. Not a happy bunny.

Thinking about signing up for this, never bothered before for various reasons

Im currently looking for a fully loaded AA cover policy , after changing car and no longer having it as part of the Car Warrenty period, and my local dealership being over 100 miles away.

I always purchase annual holiday insurance for myself & the family

I'm currently paying £5 per month mobile phone insurance,

I have been paying for the sentinal card protection scheme.

At £15pm its a no brainer, at £25pm its borderline
