For those people that are interested in having their wheelie bins cleaned how regular would you have them done 2/4/6/8/10/12 weekly?0

You dont need liners just bag up you rubbish from the bag which is in your bin. Occasionally you might get the odd leak and in summer a slight smell. I just clean with powerwasher and some disinfectant, job done in 5 minutes, it isnt messy either, not unless you dont bad things properly with quality bags not some cheapo bag that gets split easily
I think guys round our end charge a couple of quid a fortnight0 -
Our bins are emptied fortnightly, maybe in summer (if its a hot one!) might want them cleaning every fortnight, but I'd say once a month would be plenty.
Could be worth giving people plenty of options as to how often they want them doing to avoid putting people off if they only want it doing every 2 months.Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0 -
We have our wheelie bin cleaned every 4 weeks it costs us £3! We had a friend who did it and was charging £3.50 they set the business up in Aug last yr, but sold it recently as it was not bringing in a decent income. The new person we have has been in the job for yrs i suppose it is all about the effort you put into it! But good luck x0

Im sure there is a good line to be made from this, for a couple of years now a guy on our road has done the cars and bins. A few months ago he turned up with a new signed van etc. obviously working for him as when someone asked him to do a quick car wash whilst he was there he was unable to as he was booked solid and would try and get them squeezed in that weekend.
He works week days and weekends.FEB 2011 NSD's 1/140 -
If you do set up, just take note that it is illegal to pollute watercourses - can land you with a £20k fine. Road drains usually discharge into the nearest watercourse. Never heard of anyone getting a fine though.
To set up, you will need: a van; pressure washer; tanks; and some way of capturing the water.
How do I know this? I set up myself. Plenty of customers but was doing it part time alongside my work - on a six weekly cycle. I charged £3 per clean or £8 for a one-off.
Unfortunately, a six weekly cycle was too infrequent so that stuff like insurance was too much of an overhead. Also, there is a reason why most cleaners do a two or four week cycle - bins get too mucky on anything greater.
Hope this helps you make a decision.

Here's one council that has introduced a licencing scheme for bin cleaners. Others will probably have similar requirements.

It seems to differ from council to council.
I notified the council and they weren't too bothered. I also notified the water authority (for water disposal) and they were interested - but never took any details.

I used to work on the 'bins' for someone else. It is a good way of making a lot of money once you get established and have built up lots of customers.
The busiest day was 200 something bins. 200 x 3 = 600 just for that one day.
The people I worked for started off with something similar to this...
And now they have something similar to this....
This one (I think) can do one large bin as pictured or two normal size house bins.
I don't know anything about the regulations. But I know it's a great business once established. I'd say go for it. If I can help you in anyway then please message me.0 -
You might need extra insurance like public liability in case a accident happens. I seen guys clean bins and water goes every where, some numpty might take offence and sue you, you know the type of cretins that want easy money0
