could be a couple of K on cheap
I'd really be surprised if it was this much. Don't see why you'd need to have a van.
The window cleaner I use uses my own water from my outside tap (might be worth investing in a couple of water carriers just in case though).
I'd say:
A couple of large buckets
A hosepipe
A good quality longhandled brush
A good few litres of detergent/disinfectant
A stepladder
Should be able to pick that up for less than 50 quid.
As long as you've got a car that will fit that in don't think you'd need extra transport.
Why not print up some leaflets - start small, maybe 100 leaflets in your local area, or do door to door after the bin collection.
As people here have suggested charge £2 a bin, or as lots of people have more than one bin (I have three ) maybe do a discount - £3 for two or £4 for three.
Ask people how often they want it doing - every collection/fortnight/month/two months/quarterly.0 -
The wheelie bin cleaners in my area use transit vans and need a compressor and industrial power washer/cleaner. A transit will be at least 1k+ at least for very old model plus other gear. Then there are other costs and buisness insurance. I doubt you can use your car without having to use customers own water
I never seen a wheelie bin cleaner do what you suggest, what use is a stepladder?
Thing is you looking at a botch job there0 -
The people across the road have their bin cleaned once a month, I think (no-one else in the road seems to). The guy turns up in a pick-up truck, puts the bin on the back and starts up some noisy contraption that seems to automatically wash the bin. No idea how it works, but there don't appear to be any pressure washers involved.0

That will be a compressor0

Using high pressure lances and bespoke bin washing units, our operatives will wash and dry your bins leaving them with a pleasant fragrance. The machines will then recycle all of the water used and deposit the waste water at a registered site at the end of the day. We only use 100% Biodegradable chemicals making the whole process totally environmentally friendly. The people across the road have their bin cleaned once a month, I think (no-one else in the road seems to). It looks a bit more Heath Robinson than that, but it's basically the same idea.0

I tried to clean with hosepipe and it does need more pressure .As someone ^^ said, its hard to reach the bottom with a brush, which is obviously wher emost of the nasty stuff is. People in our road get it cleaned every other week! i just grab the guy a couple of times a year if im out cleaning the car.
Does seem like a good weekend job though and easy to advertise.
One thing I dont think ive seen yey is mobile car wash-could work well. More money per customer but will take longer to do each one.
I know there are mobile valets, but yet to see a cheaper once a week type of service- perhaps due to risk of damaging paint?0 -
Too damn cold in the UK to do that !0

Its pretty expensive round our way, we had a leaflet through a few weeks ago - it was about £10! No way we'll pay that amount, if it was only a couple of quid then we probably would have gone for it. oh always says he'll do it himself - but he doesn't. And I'm too small to be able to do it properly so wouldn't mind paying £2 or £3 for it to be done for us.Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0

I would suggest using wheelie bin liners cost approx £1.30 for 5, i'm usually at home when the wheelie bin cleaner chaps come around, because they fit a liner they don't bother cleaning the majority of bins because they're already clean (guess it saves time on refilling water tank for pressure washer) so chap getting paid £5 a fortnight just to fit a 30p bin liner, sounds like a great business to get into to me. Personally when mine needs cleaning use my jet wash and a 20p bottle of supermarket bleach takes less than 5 mins to clean and 20min dry turned upside in the garden.0
