Where can I buy a 8ft x 7ft Mattress?

I need a 8ft x 7ft Mattress (Caesar Size).

I could buy one from thebigbedcompany but these are quite expensive. I have also found a reasonably priced 7ft x 7ft at mattressman.co.uk

however I would prefer the bigger size. I do not have any specific requirements other than the size as my aim is to build the bed myself.

I appreciate your help,

P.S I am based in York however would prefer to buy online (if possible).

  • Im no help as I have no idea where youd get one, but I have to say thats a bloomin big bed my friend! My superkingsize is big enough, an 8x7 is mahoosive. Good luck with your quest!
  • Consider two separate 4x7 matresses as they will be easier to manouvere and also provide more support than one large mattress and probably wear better over time

Any mattress manufacturer can probably do mattresses to size

If this is your mattress then do consider what it will be made of. you spend a third of your life in bed so get it right otherwise could be an expensive (and painful) mistake!

With a mattress that size have you considered if it will fit up the stairs without bending it too far?
  • Yes it will be a big bed, as per teh other commenst you spend 1/3 of your life there so its worth it being big. Its more out of desite than neccisity I am only 6ft and my partenr is 5' 4".

In regarsd to teh mattress bending, this will not be an issue the route to the bedroom is clear and will not require being around doors.

thanks for the repsonses so far, I am still hopeing for the 8x7.

Yes but even more important that its comfy

Not just bending its the weight of moving a mattress that big. If you have a pocket sprung mattress say with memory foam on top (the best IMO) a mattress that size will weigh an incredible amount. We have a 160cm x 200cm mattress made out of that and it is really really heavy. Your size will be just over 50% larger in overall area and so presumably nearly 50% heavier!! Make sure you build that bed strong

Zip linked 7x4's have to be far more practical IMO plus you can have different tensions ie firm or softer each side

Can't see it being a cheap excercise though especially if you get a decent mattress

Ikea, their mattresses are longer than the standard uk one. You will be forever tied in to fitted ikea bedsheets :) I'm 6+ and when stretch out still fit in quite nicely, compared to the standard uk bed when my toes sick out

Many hotels have hughe beds. Try a commercial bed supplier ie one that supplies the hotel trade.

    Try http://www.thebigbedcompany.co.uk
Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.
  • Have a look at Beevers beds based in Whitby they will make any size you want and supply hotels so the quality is first class

What about the ceiling height, and the height of doorways?

Most independent manufacturers will make special sizes.
