About a week ago I installed Windows 7 everything went fine then a few days later all of a sudden I can't use my wired connection and I have to use wireless which is useless for playing games. When I diagnose the wired connection it tells me that Local Area Connection doesn't have valid IP configuration.
I have the LAN settings to obtain IP and DNS automatically.
Not sure what else to tell you but I heard this is pretty common I just can't figure out what to do...

Have you tried setting the wired adapter to static, there is not much point using DHCP for a fixed connection. I set my wired conntections as 192.168.2.10-19 and my router to use DHCP and the range 192.168.2.40/32 just in case I may have 32 guests with wireless lappys and phones4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . with both connections active can you try this
click the windows (START) button bottom left of the screen,
In the text box at the bottom type in cmd
When the command prompt box pops up type in ipconfig/all then post the results on here - (dont worry about the IP addresses, you are behind a router so posting them on here wont affect your security)
just wondering if the two connections are conflicting in some wayDon't try to teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time and annoys the pig0 -
Things to try:
- Plug in your cable and check the LEDs on the card - green/orange blinking?
- Try a new cable.
- Check your device manager and see if there is a problem with the Network Card. Try Googling and download the latest driver for Win7.0 -

Just an aside, do you run virtualbox ? I had a similar problem a while ago, I cant remember exactly what I did , it was on the another PC which I can't get at until tomorrow/wedsnesday, but I seem to remember I had to do a bridged connection to sort it. If not using virtualbox please post back, we can still try to sort this anyway.4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex .
