Virgin - can you pool luggage allowance?

Quick check (as we fly tomorrow!); can two passengers pool their luggage weight allowance in one checked-in suitcase? Can't find the answer on the virgin website (all it says is any one case can't be over 32kg).

Thanks!

Don't know the answer but that sounds awfully risky. If your one case goes missing you're both stuck. Far better to take two, with half of your clothes in each one.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

No you can't, I looked into this a while ago while flying Virgin but was told it was out of the question and it's the same with all other airlines.

Yes you can, i have done this about 30 times.

The point being - How will anyone possibly know.

*edit* The last time i flew with Virgin was in Sept from JFK, i completely forgot i had a bottle of Jack in my hand luggage, i got busted at security and went back up to bag drop and the first ticket i pulled out was my sons (age 7) the Jack went through as his luggage.

  • Well we only really have one case suitable for hold luggage. Each person is entitled to 23kg, and I reckon if we put all our stuff in one case it'll be 25kg ish, so it will be over the weight limit for one person...

    No you can't do that.

I thought you meant share your stuff between each others allowance.

  • Oh crap. We've done it plenty of times before with other airlines, but never been with Virgin.

Can't you just take a bit less?

Or buy a cheap holdall from somewhere?

Why not call Virgin and ask?

0844 209 7777 - 24 hours - it's the reservations line, but I would imagine they could answer the question.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

as long as the case meets their size and weight criteria you will have no problem.
