    Chains aren't always perfect. On models without tensioners they can loosen over time. They're generally cheaper to replace though and usually don't just snap.

    try looking on eurocarparts.com - they do cheap car parts and free delivery - might be worth getting a price for just labour, and ordering the parts yourself.
