Some of you are very organised, most of what you lot have in a cupboard is scattered all over the house, eg we have Anbesol in the lounge, because it's usually when I'm sat watching TV that I realise I've got a mouth ulcer so I dab it on then. If I have to get up and go and find it I forget what it was I was going to get. :o

And plasters are upstairs and downstairs, because if I realise I need one at night I'll never be bothered to come down and get one!

And for anyone wondering, liquid Anbesol is, IMO, infinitely superior to Bonjela. You can actually apply it where it's needed and it stays there, AND IT WORKS!

Thanks for that idea, that will be great for us but the kids are a nightmare even having eye drops (pinned down and sat on with eyes prized open - 2 man job:eek:) so I think something like an eye bath will be good for them.
You can't administer drops via an eye bath, you can only rinse that way. And actually I think the only advantage that an eye bath has over a mug is that there's less water to spill if the victim offers resistance!

But if eye drops are needed regularly, then you might want to think how to make it less traumatic! Depending on the ages of the children, bribery might work ... Definitely try not to let any of them see how upset the others are getting, because otherwise you just get a vicious circle.

Once you have used an eye bath can you sterilise it and use it again or would you need to have 1 per person in the cupboard?
    sterilise and use again!

Electric thermometor - Has anyone tried the one that reads the forehead rather than the ears? (they have very sensitive ears and often wouldn't let me use the Braun thermoscan:()
I don't know what's available these days, I do have a little strip thermometer for foreheads and TBH it's not much use, really only indicates a 'too cold / too hot / just right' range. I can get that by kissing their forehead, which I'm only allowed to do if I say "I am not kissing you, I am checking your temperature." And they have to be REALLY ill to let me do that. But they are all big boys now. :rotfl:

We are also going to stop using plug in air fresheners as this seems to aggravate the problem and will go back to using incense sticks
This is a genuine question, but why do you have use either? What's wrong with opening a window for a few minutes if there's an unpleasant smell in the house?

Sorry I probably wasn't very clear I wasn't intending to administer the eye drops with the bath merely to wash the eyes out:)

We haven't had to use them for a long time so I could probably et away with bribery now they are a bit older:)

I don't actually have a need for either but it is just something I like. The same as I like to disinfect the bathrooms once a week from top to bottom because I love that smell of fresh clean:o Probably why they pick up so many bugs because they have never been subjected to any dirt:o:o

A couple of extras in my cupboard:

For persistant bad throats we drink Bottle Green Ginger and lemon grass cordial - made hot. Works every time. May sting a bit going down the first time but apart from being very tasty, it's been wonderful for bad throats.

When I go abroad I buy a box of 10 x single use plastic ampules of mecurochrome- or red stuff as it's known in our house.

It's fantastic for scrapes and cuts to prevent infection. It's outlawed by H+S in the UK as it is toxic if licked, but I also stick it on the cat if it's been in a fight with no ill effects

Our nurse at school used it on every child when they got cut / scraped and noone ever got an infection. Can still buy it in Spain, Portugal etc

I use a lot of essential oils and get them from essentiallyoils and they're fab if you ring up and ask advice for a specific ailment.

The series of Bach remedies too.
