Your medical box essentials

I like to keep a "medicine" box where we store essential medicines so that if we are ill we don't have to trapse to the chemist. I don't mean illness that you would visit the doctor for but the general home emergencies and I thought I was all covered then my daughter sprayed perfume in her eye and I realised I don't have an eye bath or rinse. So I am looking to stock up and thought I would get other opinions on what other people keep in their home boxes/cabinets?

The usual painkillers and bad stomach stuff, and sore throat sweets.
Antihistamine tablets and cream - we're a sensitive lot.
Plasters etc, and that's about it.

Edit - Just looked at the dates on the painkillers and they're 4 years out of date - obviously not that sensitive!
And I used olive oil out of the kitchen for my ears instead of buying special stuff. Is that bad?

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Tea Tree oil, aloe vera gel and pawpaw lotion for skin wounds and burns. Jaap's Grape Salts for upset tums and bloating. Range of butterfly stitches, plasters and bandages (because I am a notorious klutz.) Bonjela and Rinstead pastilles for ulcers and cut mouths. 4Head stick and cooling patches.

    We're pretty well stocked, actually.

    Personal pronouns are they/them/their, please.

I'm intolerant of wheat, citrus, grapes, grape products and dried vine fruits, tomato, and beetroot, and I am also somewhat caffeine sensitive.

You can get by without an eyebath: egg cup or other cup (although obviously you need more water in one of them) will do the job.

I keep pepto bismal in for tummy uspets and wind-very good but horrible tast so I buy the capsules. I always have liquid ibuprofen as it seems to work better on my boys temps then paracetamol. I keep arniga gel for bumps, bruises and burns. I also keep sudocrem as it's a multi purpose cream, and second tea tree oil-I get the high grade one from holland and barret. I also keep a cheap bag of frozen peas in the freezer just for first aid-bumps,bruises,burns etc.

ETS I have no colon and can get dehyrdated very very quickly if I get a tummy upset. I make my own rehydrate solution from St Marks recipe (it tastes better as well than the bought one, which are also expensive. I keep a few 1 litre bottles of water in at all times, and make up the recipe sealing it in small plastic bags until needed. When needed I snip the bag and add the contents to a litre bottle of water, shaking well. The recipe is:
Electrolyte Mix (St. Mark’s Hospital Formula)
    Glucose powder 20g ) (6 level tsps)
Sodium Chloride 3½g ) made up to one litre with tap water (1 level tsp)
    Sodium Bicarbonate 2½g ) (1/2 heaped tsp)
1 litre water. Keep in fridge for up to 24 hours.
You can buy the powders from any community pharmacy and some supermarkets.
Sodium Chloride is table salt which you may already have.
Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!

We've got three boxes of things,

one for cold relief and allergies:- cough bottle, throat lozenges, hay fever tablets, vicks vapour rub, cold sore cream etc.
in the other is pain relief:- paracetamol, ibuprofen, calpol, migraine tablets. voltarol gel.
in the last one is first aid stuff, bandages, plasters, sting relief wipes, scissors, dressings, andrews liver salts...

It's all kept in one cupboard, sits on the shelf above the vitamins.... now who'd have thought we'd need any pills if we took vitamins.:o
