    hi homeless75,

i already know about getting a schengen visa. And i don't know when you got your visa at the French embassy, but the last 3 times I got one over there, there always has been an appointment system, which nevertheless will need around 4-8 hours for you to get your visa on the given day and dates are usually note available for 1 month or so.

I'm looking for the odd countries, particularly the british overseas territories.

    Thanks
like i posted before look on the individual websites of the country u want to vist. just because u r a resident of a country doesnt make u a citizen so when u go to another country they like to see your passport because u have an indian one u have the rights of all other indians not as a british citizen. my daughter was born in the uk she has a thai passport and an english one. she is bristish but because she lost her british passport in thailand she couldnt come back to the uk with her thai passport ( unless she applied for a visa which they need to see bank statments and letter of approval from myself as if i was sponsoring her) although she was born in the uk. ur passport is ur gateway to other countries if its indian then u will have to go through the same procedures about visiting other countries. check on individual country websites you want to go to for visa requirements. i'm sure you got a computer. it will explain there just like the cayman islands

    thanks jasonrat,

Of course I have my rights as an Indian citizen. But this rule with Switzerland has got everything to do with the UK residence permit as well. It is a combination of being an Indian citizen and a UK resident that allows me visa free travel there. Try locating it on the web and you won't find a thing about it. But I know it well coz i've been there several times.

But i guess that answers my main query that even though I'm a UK resident, I will still need a visa to visit the British Overseas Territories unless I find some info like the one for Switzerland, which is virtually no where to be found. I was informed of this by a travel agent, 1st-contact to be precise. Maybe I should just get in touch with them and see if they can help.

    Thanks
    Tushar

I expect visa-free travel by Indian citizens is mainly to India's neighbours such as Nepal and Bhutan.

The following is an extract from British passports:
the majority of British territories overseas have immigration restrictions applicable to British nationals as well as aliens.

I guess I would not need a visa, possibly even a passport to visit Jersey, Guernsey, Scilly??

This page mentions European Union residents. Does it mean residents (not only citizens) do not require a visa?

    Thanks

Because of historical ties and/or bilateral agreements between Trinidad and Tobago and several other countries, citizens of certain countries do not need visas once they are travelling to our twin islands on vacation, as follows:
The USA and European Union Countries (as mentioned above).
Commonwealth countries with the exception of Australia, India, New Zealand, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Uganda, South Africa.

i think this includes you. u need visa i believe
