Visa Free Travel

Hi guys,

I want to know which countries will allow an Indian citizen to travel without a visa. I've still got almost a year's British Residence Permit left and will be applying for permanenet leave next year.

One of the most unexpected country was Switzerland where I have travelled without a visa (around 7-8 times)

Thanks in advance for looking.

Cheers
Tushar

    hi jasonrat,

i'm an Indian citizen residing in UK with a long British residence permit. In such a case, there are countries like Switzerland which will allow you to enter them without a Visa.

I'm particularly interested in places like Cayman Islands, BVI etc. I'm not sure if I need a visa because these are British territories. Just like I'm not required to get a Visa to visit Jersey, Guernsey, Scilly, Isle of Man etc because I have a British residence permit. In all, I want to know if I'll need a visa to visit British overseas territories.

    Thanks

I've got an Indian passport and unfortunately the Indian Embassy is not worth a penny's help. I've been to many places that required a visa e.g Oz, Nz, Sg & almost all of Europe (Schengen) and I always do my research about such things. But since I found out that Indian nationals with a residence permit in the UK can go to Switzerland without a visa, and i've actually done this myself many times, I'm quite sure there must be many other countries that would allow this. The only reason I want to bypass visa is that I'm not sure where I wish to go and a visa like the Schengen visa may need a month to be issued.

I'm pretty much sure that there must be treaties for UK residents visiting British Overseas Territories. Although I never understood or even found out why Switzerland would do that given that they are even not party to the Schengen treaty.

If anyone could shed some light at least on the BVI?

    Thanks

quote from cayman islans website If you are American, British, Canadian, a citizen of another Commonwealth country (with the exception Bangladesh, Gambia, India, Jamaica, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Cameroon, Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Uganda) or a national of any of the following you will not require a Visa

    benz52,

I hold Indian passport with leave to remain indeifnetly in Uk. I made a day trip to London and stood in the que for the French visa section and managed to get one issued by mid day i was back on the train home. But mind you .. i was there in the que for about 0630 ... and no i was not the first person there either :( ... i was about 25th in the long que !!!

The application form can be downloaded from the website. Since then whenever i want a Schengen visa then i send my application by post now and they give me the Visa.

    Hope this helps

    hi homeless75,

i already know about getting a schengen visa. And i don't know when you got your visa at the French embassy, but the last 3 times I got one over there, there always has been an appointment system, which nevertheless will need around 4-8 hours for you to get your visa on the given day and dates are usually note available for 1 month or so.

I'm looking for the odd countries, particularly the british overseas territories.

    Thanks
