• I'd like to add that i was good friends with someone that worked at a Yeo Valley factory in Devon.
This factory made sainsburys own, waitrose finest amongst others making yogurts and deserts such as trifles.
The difference was really the cream/milk content, i think the general rule is the creamier something is, the more expensive it retails for.
This isn't to say that sometimes the differences really are menial..
• Sainsburys Shower Gel is only 30p or something silly, is green also, but it smells really nice and does the job..
The only shower gel i could use whilst i was pregnant as the smell of others made me nauseous.
• Sorry I cannot manage 106 pages.Could somebody be so kind as to point me to the page where booze is getting a mention.
5 or so years ago when I lived in Austria a consumer website produced a huge list of what was in supermarket own brand bottles.Sadly I lost it somewhere on my travels. The savings were huge.

Go into any supermarket and you’ll find own brand good, anything ranging from a packet of mints to high end goods such as televisions and computers; but who makes them?

It doesn’t really matter if it’s just a packet of mints you’ll not buy them next time around; as a man I generally buy own brand shaving gel and find it just as good as some major brand names and I’m not really concerned about who badges it. But goods that cost a fair bit more, or goods that you would expect to last for a number of years, well that’s a different story, especially if they are electronic.

What’s your experience of buying high end Own Brand Goods?
Is there any way you can discover who makes them and what model they are based on?

Take as examples an own brand microwave, or an own brand television: two costly items and two items you’d want to last for at least five years. (I’d want them to last longer.) If you wanted to buy your son or daughter a notebook for school, or that extra television you want for the bedroom is there any way you can discover who makes these goods?

In a way, I suppose, it’s a bit like ‘Secret Hotel Deals,’ if the wording and certain other bits of information fall into place then it’s a reasonable guess that the hotel is: The Whatever Hotel!

Anyway of telling who badges goods for the major supermarkets?

• Hi, not sure if this has been said but if not here it is!

My sister-in-law's father works for Muller at a very high level (I don't especially want to say what in case someone works out who I'm on about) and he will bring home yogurts that have gone wrong in the factory (wrong labelling etc). However, she doesn't eat dairy so will pass them on to me and one day she handed me some yogurt packaged in Aldi's packaging instead of the usual Muller packaging.

Confused I asked her about it who in turn ask her dad about it - it turns out that Aldi's yogurts (the ones that look like Muller ones) are in fact produced in the Muller factory in Market Drayton with pretty much the exact same ingredients.

.

they're not sorted into categories or pages, just posted whenever someone discovers an appropriate item.
