Hi,
As much as I have Hatton Garden in London on my door step, I find their prices a tad too high for what I would like made, can anyone who has had a platinum engagement ring made reccommend anyone? I dont mind travelling, just nothing further than say Manchester.
Many thank.

have you thought about a palladium ring? there stronger than platinum and look the same or very similar atleast and are about half the price0

If you're looking for bespoke platinum do a search on wedding band fingerprint - its something new jewelers are doing, they take your partners fingerprint and laser cut it on the inside of the band, its the same price as engraving in most places and its just as personal!
I also would go palladium but im never too bothered about the metal as im a man!MFW - <£90kAll other debts cleared thanks to the knowledge gained from this wonderful website and its users!0 -

This is where I got mine from, they have a couple of shops or a designer will take you through the process on the phone. My OH did mine over the phone and my ring is perfect and really good quality. Definatley recommended0 -
I used designer Rebecca Howarth at Harriet Kelsall Jewelry Design - they are based in Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire.

Rebecca helped me design my platinum and ruby engagement ring - which I am really pleased with. It was quite expensive - but well worth every penny to get exactly what I wanted.
Good luck finding the ring you really want x0 -
We got our rings from weddingrings-direct.com and we were really pleased with their service. Didn't have bespoke though and we went with palladium in the end because it was around 1/3 of the price of platinum0

Try the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter instead as they may be cheaper - in London you pay London prices.0

Thanks everyone.
I have read up a bit on Paladium, and not sure I like the sound of it as a metal, especially for what i want made, I tried HK but as pointed out it can be a bit pricey, I think the best thing at this stage is to take a trip to Birmingham, although at saying that I emailed an well known Jewellery quarter shop some images of what I wanted made and then even spoke to this particular company over the phone, the 1st quote they gave me was fine, the guy then said he was going to go off and look into how much having a silver mock up of the ring would be as the original quote did not include this, thinking this might be say an extra £100 give or take which i was actually fine with, they then came back and quoted me an extra £500 for something all the HG jewellers were charging less for and better quality diamonds..lol0 -

I just purchased my diamond from the usa...lol
Not sure it would be cost effective for me to send it back to get ring made and pay the VAT and custom charges again :eek:0
