i'm into month 8 of my plusnet contract
was wondering if its possible to break contract to take up "free" broadband with orange
am i better just waiting for contract to end (12 months)...if so when is the earliest i should request a cancellation and pac code etc
thanks
plusnet are ok...they just really annoyed me when i first started with them by saying i downloaded to much...i had been on internet about 8 times in total......just basic surfing.....but they decided to restrict me further for some strange reason

I think you have answered your own question in one respect0 -
you can break it, but be prepared to pay off any months of existing service you're still contracted too aswell as any early cancellation fee's0

You can cancel now by requesting a MAC code. You will be charged for the remaining monthly subscriptions (ie 4 months worth) and if you took advantage of the 'free' connection (and modem) package, you will have to pay that back too. The other option is wait for the 12 months to be up then request a MAC code. You have to pay for 12 months subscription so you might as well stay and use it. The 'free' connection refund will be reduced 20% too.0

thanks guys
think i'll sit it out the last 4 months.........
re 30 day cancellation period......when my 11th direct dedit goes out should i phone and cancel that day?0 -
If you've been told off by plusnet for downloading too much the orage deal with only 2Gb of download limit per month will be no good for you.Tight fisted accountant since birth.0

PlusNet get you there as well. Although you are supposed to give 30 days notice, if you do it after month 11, this kicks in the MAC request routine and you will be assumes to have quit before he 12 months are up. You have to wait until the 12 months are up, then put in your MAC request. There was a posting about this somewhere... If I find it, I will edit this post.0

Although you are supposed to give 30 days notice their is a way round this you need to say to the customer service first thing "Could I have a MAC address please" most of the time they give you straight away works wonders. :j0

For anyone who is thinking of joining Plusnet or is an existing Plusnet customer the following may be of interest.
In the past, I have previously had nothing but praise for Plusnet. You could always ring them and get through to a real person or raise a ticket and get a response in a few hours.
However, over the past few weeks I have nothing but trouble from them. Initially they forcibly switched my broadband connection from BT to the Tiscali LLU. This means that Tiscali rather than BT are responsible for your braodband at the exchange. As I was quite happy with my rock solid broadband I asked them to leave it alone and gave them over two weeks notice. However, they said it was going to happen regardless.
Anyway, come the day of the move, my broadband stopped working. It was impossible to contact anyone at Plusnet on the phone and they were non responsive to tickets raised online. Eventually, after emailing the CEO my broadband reappeared after 4 days.
Unfortunately, it died again after about 4 days and I haven't had it since. Again I am unable to speak to anyone at Plusnet and they are not responding to tickets I have raised.
The moral of the story is, think hard before joining Plusnet now and if you are already a Plusnet customer be very wary of being switched to LLU.
End of rant.0 -
I was told that if I cancelled my contract I would only have to pay £50, is this not true?
Do I have to pay more?0
