Me and OH have had a long chat about it and he has said he is more than happy to cancel the current wedding plans (summer 2011) and lose our £1000 worth of deposits, AND give my parents their £5k back and to get married in Oz this christmas.

IF I tell my mother when he's not there. Lol. O.k that's not happening then :(

Kittie J, Your wedding sounds great, very romantic and intimate.

We are going to a lovely vintage tea room near where we live, It is always packed with old ladies, So the prospect of us turning up in all our wedding glory makes me laugh and will give them something to talk about.

Rings!!! Good question. I dont know what to do. We cant wear rings for work, but am aware we need to sort something out. Be assured they wont be bespoke hand made jobs thou, lol

how about these rings and you could wear it on a necklace at work? x
I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p
  • OMG My lovely generous friend has bought my wedding ring!

We went looking at wedding rings at my friends shop (my friend works in her dads jewellers) and decided they were well out of my price range, so back to the drawing bored. We then went to Argos and got a lovely one for me OH is going to have his engagement ring polished for the day. JOb Done

My friend has just rang to say she wont take no for an answer and bought me my wedding ring as a gift.

This is an EXTREAMLY generous and thoughtful thing to do, but I feel a little funny that my HTB hasnt bought it (it is far more expensive than the Argos one) and the cheap Argos one had more centemental value than the gifted one.

What should I do, or am I just sounding ungreatful?
I am pleased to give hairdressing help or advice, but a thank you doesn't go a miss.

Oh my goodness! That is a lovely thing for your friend to do for you!
But I personally would keep the one H2B had gotten me for sentimental reasons after all I'd still marry him even if it was a haribo ring! ( Not that a haribo one would last cos they are my favs!! )

Not telling family and friends, does that include parents.

If so, could you consider a bit longer.

I would be heartbroken if my daughter did this. I cant tell you how much it would upset me. I am getting upset even thinking about it.

My sister got married with only her hubby and best friend there. Yes, we were a bit disappointed that we didn't get to be there, but were happy that her and her hubby got the day that THEY wanted, and we had a wee celebration with them when they got back. We did know that it was happening, but only the week before, and they only ended up telling us because my H2B was seriously ill in ITU, and they wanted to make sure that we were ok with them going. It was a wee bit of happiness in an otherwise hellish time

It sounds like a lovely day :) I'm quite jealous, at the back of my mind I wanted to just elope somewhere and get married without anyone there then just having a massive party when we got back. But I'm the first of my siblings to get married and my parents want to help out, I still worry lots about how they are affording everything, trying to keep it as budget friendly as possible! Can't be doing with spending an absolutely ridiculous amount of money on one day that doesn't really mean anything after you've said your vows.
