My MSE Wedding

Options
I am not bragging and I know it is not everyones cup of tea, but I am very proud and excited of my Wedding for 3, me my fiance and his daughter(plus 2 witnesses).

We have had a rubbish year, redundancy, a close friend was murdered, and we have got thru it and love each other emmensly

I cant tell you the date (but will after the day) as we are not telling family and friends.

We have both had the big wedding previously (mine got out of control and wasnt what I wanted at all) and a wedding doesnt make a marriage, so here goes.

My dress £120 (alterations £13, done by me, but needed cotton etc)
My shoes £18.00 (match the bridesmaid dress exactly)
Grooms suit £55 (in the sale 3 piece bargain)
Bridesmaid £9.50 (again in the sale reduced from £50)
Bridesmaid shoes£7.50 (monsoon sale)
Flowers £100 Mine, BM, and button whole (a luxary I dont want to do with out)
Photographer £50 (this money will come of the price of anything we order from her, so will be more expensive eventually)
Register Office £160 (:eek::eek::eek::eek:)

Grand total £533.

We are getting married then going for a cup of tea and a piece of cake, and then will tell the world. If people join us for a drink, LOVELY, if not, I have had the wedding I want and will be marries to my lovely man.
I am pleased to give hairdressing help or advice, but a thank you doesn't go a miss.
:D

What a lovely idea - weddings can get out of hand and everyone tells you what you "MUST HAVE"!!!
You see the threads on here so often about "what do I need to do about X" "What order do I do things in".....
Ultimately it's your wedding day, and you should do what you want and how you want it.

Hope you have a lovely day -whenever it is..!!
Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??

Congratulations GH. Sounds really lovely and it sounds like it is just what you want, which is what all of us are wanting from our weddings.

Sounds really good, you'll be really pleased with it because you made an effort to seek out bargains; makes it more personal than just throwing money left, right and centre!

I'm a bit jealous actually, we were going to have a really MSE wedding and now I'm getting a bit carried away, need to slap myself round the face sometimes!

I wish! I wish! I wish! ohhhh im so jealous of your teeny budget and your determination to do it your way.

I have fallen foul of you must have this, MSE giving to many ideas and i must have them all, and the biggest one, not being able to cut back on anything.

We wanted an MSE wedding budget was £2k, then i spent that on a dresss so we upped the budget to £4k, i am now sat here doing my spreadsheet and the budget has increased to a whopping £9k and thats without a honeymoon.

That sounds fantastic. Ours is (so far):

    Register Office - £90
    Registering (what's it called?) - £30
    Dress - £20 (Ebay, BEAUTIFUL)
    Cake - £75
Shoes - watching some on Ebay for £5

Need suit for OH, something smart for DS, flowers for me and niece, dress for niece, buttonhole for OH, rings. We're having a meal as a family afterwards, and asking people to pay for their own rather than but us a present (everyone happy with this, only close family who understand that we're broke and want to get married). There are other bits and pieces, but nothing adding up to much :j

    Very chuffed!

  • There is too much emphasis on the wedding and not enough on the new life together. All the best.
  • congratulations and i am very jealous of your intimate wedding as this is what i originally wanted, we were going off to vegas and telling people when we got back but in the excitement we told a few people and then they wanted to come so decided to do it here instead but i have still kept to our 2k budget
i cant wait to hear all about your special day xx

Not telling family and friends, does that include parents.

If so, could you consider a bit longer.

I would be heartbroken if my daughter did this. I cant tell you how much it would upset me. I am getting upset even thinking about it.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

If it's what she wanted, would you not just be happy for her?
