I used to bang on about this too and I think Martin may have even replied to it. He said they would be included in an upgrade some time ago but it never happenedThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

That explains something. I found reference to that earlier.
Cheers Lenny.

All debt management companies have to make their money from somewhere. CCCS is a registered charity and gets its payment from creditors in the form of charitable donations. Payplan regards itself as an ethical company which is funded by fairshare contributions from the creditors. Neither of them think it is fair that a client should pay for something they could do themselves for free and creditors seem to like them both as they know they will both put forward realistic and sustainable plans.
Both companies advise IVAs as well as DMPs - as well as bankruptcy, Trust Deeds north of the border and other options. I know as I have mystery shopped both.... my life is quite sad that way!
None of the add-ons are compulsory but do provide some protection or can save the client money and one can always say No.
Basically if someone has no assets to protect and few creditors they can do their own debt management plan. It is people themselves who wish for the support of a free to client provider for the extra push they might get.
No-one should do an IVA if it is not best advice but I would say that £150 per month over 10 years to repay £15,000 with no guarantee that interest and charges being frozen doesn't sound as good as £150 a month over 5 years and "save" £9,000 and five years with no interest and charges.0
