Why aren't Payplan recommended by MSE anymore?

Just saw on another thread that MSE has stopped recommending Payplan. I checked and it was right, have I missed something? Why are they no longer recommended?

I think because they area commercial company not a not-for-profit organisation.
Also I think about the time they stopped being recommend (which was a bit ago now) there were a few quite a few people not very happy with the service/advice - which I guess could also have been taken into account.

Were they ever on the Non-profit Debt Counsellors' List?

I'm not sure they ever actually were? Could be wrong......

They do 'free' debt management plans. But they make a profit from other services they also offer.

  • I thought they were funded by the financial industry? Don't tell me they've started becoming biased towards products and things they are involved with?

I think that might be CCCS you are thinking about (which are partially funded by 'the credit industry')

Payplan make money from selling insurance, IVAs and other financial products.
