Thanks Redcar, I followed your link, and the cinemas you quoted were shown - I enterd my details and got the message
"Thanks! We've received your request to attend the screening.
If your name is picked, we will post two tickets to you in advance."
But all the blurb was referring to film Inside Man ! so I don't know if I have asked for tickets to World Trade Centre or Inside man - strange.
But I will be grateful for whatever I get !0 -
well seeing as Inside Man stop showing around 6 months ago and is now on DVD, its prob for wtc.

redcar wrote:Have not used this before but the ones I've highlighted in red in Solac's post aren't on the drop down list to select for me even though it says on the website there are screenings. There are though:
Southampton
Brighton
Leicester
Wimbledon
Birmingham
Cardiff
Covent Gardern
Bournemouth
So don't know if that might mean there are tickets to those places too or if just a mix-up. Might be worth a shot?
This is a mix-up. For those who know a little HTML, look at the HTML source for the page and you'll see that they mixed up the value of the drop-down with what is displayed. All the listed theatres show up with the correct value but the incorrect city. However, the value that actually gets sent to their server is the correct value if you select the corresponding city (again, look at view source to see what is correct).
To help those that don't know HTML, look at the text below, where it says value is the real city you're selecting, choose the drop-down that is the text next to that value:
<option value="Bath">Sheffield</option>
<option value="Blackpool">Milton Keynes</option>
<option value="Coventry">Belfast</option>
<option value="Belfast">Southampton</option>
<option value="Dudley">Brighton</option>
<option value="Sheffield">Leicester</option>
<option value="Glasgow">Glasgow</option>
<option value="Edinburgh">Wimbledon</option>
<option value="Greenwich">Birmingham</option>
<option value="Huddersfield">Hull</option>
<option value="Hull">Liverpool</option>
<option value="Kingston">Huddersfield</option>
<option value="Manchester">Manchester</option>
<option value="Milton Keynes">Norwich</option>
<option value="Norwich">Greenwich</option>
<option value="Richmond">Newcastle</option>
<option value="Newcastle">Cardiff</option>
<option value="Swansea">Covent Garden</option>
<option value="Liverpool">Bournemouth</option>
<option value="West Thurrock">Edinburgh</option>
This is quite a mixup as most of the cities are incorrect! I can't imagine everyone getting tickets for the wrong theatres!!0 -
^ i'm sure i applied for tix for a brum show last week...not had anything through though0

Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait screenings
Don't miss the preview screenings of the new Zinédine Zidane movie on September 24 in association with Land Rover
Football is undeniably the beautiful game, and now it has become a beautiful film. In 2005, Zinédine Zidane was filmed for the duration of a match between Real Madrid and Villareal. The resulting movie, which received critical acclaim at Cannes, is released on September 29, but you can see it first at one of our previews on September 24. Find out how to get your hands on two tickets in The Knowledge this Saturday
IF this is the usual offer from the Times
it's Not quite FREE but is cheaper than buying 2 tickets though.
In theory you will need the coupon from The Knowledge that is inside a Saturday's copy of the Times (cost £1.20 I think)
To claim two tickets to a preview, choose your cinema from the list below, then call the booking line. You will be given a reference number. Write that number on the voucher printed in The Knowledge in today's Times and present it at the screening.
0901 553 0240 (50p/min)
Calls should last no longer than four minutes. Calls from mobiles and payphones may cost more. Lines close at time & date (depends on the offer)
or when all tickets have been allocated, whichever is the sooner.
The venues are always VUE CINEMAS and as far as I am aware are ALWAYS ....
London:
Finchley Road
Fulham, Islington
Shepherds Bush
Outside London:
Bolton
Bristol Cribbs
Bury
Cardiff
Cheshire Oaks
Croydon Grants
Edinburgh Omni
Leeds Light
Plymouth
Portsmouth
Romford
York
Terms and conditions
Tickets are subject to availability and will be allocated on a first come first served basis via the phone line.
Readers who successfully claim tickets will need to write their booking code on this voucher and take it along to the cinema on date & time (according to screening)
No cash alternative.
No late admittance.
The cinemas reserve the right to refuse admission.
In the event of a dispute, the cinema manager’s decision is final.
Has anyone done this type of deal before? Is the reference number really checked at the door into a system or on a piece of paper, or do they just look at it? It's strange that they make you call a 0900 number for this.0 -

I tried this recently. You call the number and you are put on to an automated voice which asks you questions of the cinema, your name, address, dob, newspaper reading/buying preferences etc. Be warned that since it is automated, if it doesnt recognise what you say it would take more time asking you to repeat your answer - meaning you are on the phone a lot longer than the 4minutes that they say the average call will last. So you might end up paying for the tickets through the call :0
When I did this I was given a 6 digit code which I had to write down on the printout and take to the cinema. However, when I showed it to the person at the cinema he hardly glanced at the code making me wonder whether I should have just put 6 numbers on the paper and tried my luckBut not sure whether this was an isolated case and whether the others have a list of codes against which they check so wouldnt recommend it unless you are extremely brave.
