Postage Stamps falling off!

A buyer of mine has had to pay the postman a few quid when their parcel turned up today, now i have refunded the buyer what they had to pay the posty but what do i do about it now as i'm out of pocket?

Can i claim anything back and is it worth the grief!

Did they say that they paid the postie at their door? I'm just wondering because when I got a letter that fell 1p short in postage, I got a card through my door to go to the sorting office to pay the shortfall, plus £1, and pick up the letter.
  • Same here, I sent my mam a parcel which was short on postage and they took it back to the sorting office and told her she had to go and collect it and pay a charge. I didn't think a postman could ask for money on someone's doorstep as they can't print out a receipt or anything? Maybe they're just making it up?
D'you know, in 900 years of space and time, I've never met anyone who wasn't important

this is exactly why no postie should ever take money at the door for underpaid items
OP how much did they say they paid and what did you pay in postage?

Maybe a postie on here can tell you for sure. Your buyer might be trying it on. I've never heard of them taking money on your doorstep either.

Did your buyer say she had a receipt?
  • It was only a second class stamp so 47p but they paid £1.47 so i've pretty much sold it for nothing now just thought there must be some procedure for this. Wouldn't be worth the hassle to be filling out claim forms.
  • my postie will bring any underpaid items to the door and take the payment for me, if I'm not in then he takes it back to the sorting office which is 5 miles away - he's a regular postie (as in donkeys years) and with the sorting office being so far maybe thats why he does it - OP's buyer could have similar situation.

the problem is from RM's side you sent it with no postage
did you get a proof of postage?
  • yes i have proof it was sent at the post office so they stuck the stamp on.
would it be worth me taking the cop in next time i go and asking if they can sort me out with a refund like that or will it involve lots of forms lol I know its not a large sum of money but still means i've made no money on it now.
