Where has the thread about being discharged from bankruptcy after six months gone?

I think it is absolutely outrageous that this thread has been removed (i.e. censored) without any notification to participants of the reasons why.
I don't believe it's Martin's intention for this site to operate like Stalinist Russia, so can either he or the person responsible for deleting the thread please explain why this was done?

Because it was a blatant attempt to lure desperate people into paying for "advice" from a cretin who has just been discharged from a £500K bankruptcy?
Because she/you isn't/aren't FSA approved to give out financial advice & they don't want to see some poor sucker end up completely broke after having such non-wisdom bestowed upon them?
Because they care & are responsible?
Stalinist Russia indeed.0 -
I agree with the decision to remove the thread - shame though, I was enjoying a heated debate!!0

I agree too, it was a blatant attempt to get people to visit a money making website. Yes, we all need help, but that kind of help we could do without!I believe that I have the strength to make my dreams come true:T September Challenge £5 per day - £0/£150 :T0

Because the woman was posting in House Buying Forum boasting about how much money she had made over the years from her dealings in property and then boasting in DFW about how she was discharged from bankruptcy after 6 months when she owed 500k! She then had a link in her signature, which is not allowed, to her website where she give "advice" if that's what you call it.
I know that I, for one, thought that it was a ridiculous post anyway! My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to say

What are the consequences of being released from bankruptcy after 6 months, does it mean that you can start to gain credit again?0

So what happens if someone is not FSA approved but yet they are selling financial advice?0

I honestly don't think it was trying to get people to pay for anything; the person just had a link in her signature. Once that was removed, what was wrong with the thread?
I also think it would be better if threads were locked and/or moved to a more appropriate section rather than being erased from history, and surely some notification should be given to the people who've been involved in a debate of the reason for it being ended?
I would still like to know exactly who removed it and why please?.0 -

I don't understand why it wasn't worthy of debate. Ok so you might not agree with what was written but doesn't that apply to a lot of threads on here? I think MSEers in general are more than capable of having a good discussion on any subject, and I find the attitude of some people here who seem to think otherwise a bit patronising..0 -

IMO the thread wasn't posted to start a debate, it was started for the OP to boast about having been discharged from bankruptcy after 6 months when she owed 500k and to promote bankruptcy instead of any other avenue.
I have no problem with debating on this subject if that was the intention of the OPMy home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. I have to admit to not bothering with reading further than pretty much the first few posts in it... Advertising here to try and take advantage of the MSE'ers reading and frankly all the reasons above would have been enough to gain my support to remove the posts and indeed thread. And I am usually not against people going for bankrupcy in the right situations.
Calling it Stalinist however is not gonna win you much support... If the OP requires help with getting debt free the I am sure she is welcome to post for help here - bragging about getting 500k of debt written off and actively encouraging others to do so is against the MSE "way" surely? Be responcible, if bankrupcy is the only option then consider it. Don't go saying "run up thousands worth of debt because you can have it all written off"
Sorry I'll back the mod/mods who removed it 100% on this oneDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
