Talk Talk Cancellation Charges

Hi, posting in case someone else has been through this and can offer some advise.

Talk Talk have charged me £61 for cancelling their broadband service within the minimum period. I had taken out new service with Plusnet who notified Talk Talk that I was leaving.

I moved into a new flat in October and signed up with Talk Talk. They wrote on 21 October saying I would have broadband within 3 weeks. After it got put back time and time again, by early December I phoned Plusnet and they got me up and running within the week.

My main gripe is that in their goodbye letter in December they advised that they may charge for early cancellation - see section 10 of t's & c's. Well, all I got when I signed up was a leaflet with tiny small print t & c's, and it wasn't numbered so I don't know what part is section 10. Surely if they never provided me with terms & conditions I have a case to argue that they never informed me of the cancellation fee?

On my first bill, in November (before I had received any service!) they charged me a connection fee. Can it be right for them to charge me a connection fee for a service that wasn't connected?

Anyone else been through similar? I resent being charged a connection fee and cancellation fee for service that materialised.

How come Talk Talk couldn't get my internet going after nearly 2 months but Plusnet sorted me within a week?!

I too was just coming on here to rant about Talktalks appauling customers services. I know you pay peanuts you get monkeys. I have had a problem accessing my online accoutn since we moved house two months ago. Three emails and three hour long phonecalls since and nothing. Everyone just passes you on.

If I hadn't just had to pay £29.99 connection fee when we moved I would pull the plug on the whole thing. Absolutely appauling.

Post on there forums, staff seem to sort things out quickly on there, good luck
  • I left Talk Talk after they never provided me with a router and went to Sky. Then they want cash from me. Can't have money for a service I never received. Only good thing was their telephone.

Very true! One hour long phone call I had with them I got passed over to three different departments and each time I had to give all my details again.

And thanks for the tip Deano.
  • After loads of calls, I eventually got their office in South Africa to agree to provide me with a router and cancel some charges (because I could not access the net due to a lack of a router !) and some compensation and then they cancelled the phone service the next day. Utter shambles.

I can't register with Talk Talk's forum as my account has now been cancelled.

Anyone have any idea where I should take this complaint from here? I think I might contact Consumer Direct. They never gave me the T&Cs so I think I have a case.
