in Motoring
Took car to Kwikfit for MOT (probably not best idea).
Failed for a few things:-
1. Headlight not secured. I know one of the fixings for the headlight is broken but are they being overpicky here. Its definitely not loose because 4 out of 5 bolts are still holding it.
2. Exhaust mountings. They are saying the bit that hangs on to the rubbers has snapped off.and I need whole new exhaust. Can this be repaired/welded or something?
I'm seriously thinking of going somewhere else and paying for another MOT as a second opinion.

How did you fix it?
With mine the plastic bracket has snapped. Reckon I could superglue it back together?0 -
Always get an MOT done at "Just MOTs" or somewhere that has no vested interest in failing your vehicle. If they fail your vehicle, then they usually re-test for free once you've had the work done elsewhere.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

Use Council run MOT centres !!!!!!!!!!!0

Not the rubber mount apparently, but the hook bit on the exhaust that hooks onto the rubber mount.0 -
Weld a new bit on.
Contact youir local Council for an MOT - they wont go looking for things to fail it on as they domt do repairs.0 -
Do the 4 out 5 bolts hold it tight? there is no movement on the headlamp when you grip it?
If there is no movement I would say it is not insecure and should not fail. But your only recourse to challenge it is to go to VOSA and pay for a full MOT and only if they agree with you will you get your MOT and not be charged for the test.
Wait and see what response from people who are or have been MOT testers or worked in a MOT station.
I ask on this place from time to time for advice
