    Keith,

I don't think you have read the post properly. He is not going prison BECAUSE of debt, he is going WITH it (as mentioned on the thread!)

Its not my business what hes done but does your sister really want hassle of his debtors calling and waiting 4/5 years for him?
I'd personally advise her to get on with her life apologies for sounding callous but to put herself first.Disassociate herself from him financially.Return his letters as not at that address and if possible move for a fresh start.

I've been visiting this site for some months now but am new to posting so I hope that I'm not being unduly high and mighty with this post but I think you should have stopped at "Its not my business what hes done".

The poster has visited this site to ask for advice regarding the debt, without a very good understanding of the crime and circumstances surrounding it none of us are in a position to offer advice on aything else.

  • if he's going for more than 4 years then he will do at least half - maybe more.

*can't offer anything of more use to the thread*

Usually the prison service has leaflets covering this kind of thing, why not ask them?

I really do think she needs to put herself first.Several years is a long time and she needs to look forward not back.
Bnoc I have given her advise.Clear and concisely in a manner to protect herself.
Disassociate herself from him financially.Return his letters as not at that address and if possible move for a fresh start.

Its up to her to weigh up pros and cons of the dilema and read through all advise offered. Why should she be lumbered with his debt? She doesnt say its joint.4-5 or even just 2 years is a long time for a relationship whatever the circumstances to stay "rosey".She needs to think of her future. Why should she be stuck in limbo with his debt while hes inside?
Ive suggested alternative which personally I would probably choose after being lumbered with my exs debts and keeping him out of prison more fool me for his council tax.Thankfully i'm divorced and would not wish that on anyone.
It should be up to him to make arrangements not leaving her to worry if he cared.
