I have just sent my mum an email asking if she would lend me £1k.

I didn't want to do it over the phone as I think it's harder for her to say no then and that's not fair. Fingers crossed she can help!

Fingers crossed for this one! The interest saved could really help you get to that 2011 goal.

I had 1p interest in my account today, which has of course been sent to Lloyds.

    Morning Woo!

I think you have done very well so far! Do you know when you will hear about the virgin card? I have no idea how long these things take :)

Virgin said 7 to 10 days, which to be honest I think is a bad sign!

    Hi Joshua

You have cleared a great amount already since January. How are you finding the whole debt busting thing?

I detest Lloyds more than I can put into words lol!

I am fully expecting Virgin to say no, as last year I almost went down the DMP route and backed out at the last minute. I had a card with Virgin then and my account was frozen. They will probably have a good giggle at my application, but if you don't ask you don't get.

My mum won't pick up her email till around lunchtime. I hate waiting.

  • Morning Woo, did your Mum offer to lend the the 1K? It would be good to reduce the Lloyds, it would make a big difference to the interest.

    Hi RP

I rang her yesterday talking about my overdraft, she said if it had been about £1k she could of lent it to me, but when she realised it was more like £3k that was the end of the conversation really.

I just thought this morning if I could borrow £1k towards Lloyds, I will be able to meet my goal of July and then clear everything else including my mum by end Dec 2011.

Not sure if I should have asked or not. Think she's used to her daughter being a useless pain in the bum though!

I think it's ok to ask so long as you make it obvious that you won't be upset if she's says no, that way there's no guilt.

My Mum has always said to me she'd rather know what is going on and be asked for the help, even if she has to say no at that point, rather than being kept in the dark.

Think as much as parents wind us up about needing their help sometimes even though we're adults (apparently!) they actually like helping their children where they can.

    That's what daughters are for!

Anyway, enjoy it while you can because the roles soon reverse, think it is about 30 when you have to start being parents to your parents!

I hope she can lend it to you, it will really help.

:jWoo Hoo my mum lent me the money :j

I have just sent this to Lloyds. My next statement is being done on Tuesday 12th, am hoping it will come off before then, but Lloyds are particuarly slow.

    Lloyds balance is now £6180.15.

This will be gone by the end of July, if not sooner.
