out of all the suppermarkets i think sainsburrys is the best the food is lovey fresh and at a good price when it comes to food you get what you pay for if you buy cheep food then it is usally full of rubish eg basic mince meat 99p per pack but whats minced up in the mince meat lean steak mince 179.p for the 79p i like to know what im eating
the worst suppermarket is asda the food is vile from there ham what is nothing more than wet slime no taste at all i hate to think what there smart price ham taste of my freind brought a loaf of bread there monday today its mouldy it might be cheep but its not worth wasting money on as she has had to buy more bread where if she had stuck to her usall tesco bread she wouldnt of need to buy another one
as for iceland i think you can get some good deals there as long as it is branded names but farm foods is far cheeper for branded namesi cant slow down i wont be waiting for you i cant stop now because im dancing0 -

I think the branded/non branded thing is rubbish. I used to work in a factory that made pork pies for Farm Foods and also for Marks and Spencers St Michael's range - exactly the same pies went in each different package. Same with meat - Mr A did a temp stint at a meat factory a couple of years ago packaging for Tesco's - same corned beef slices went into the 'value' packs as went in the 'finest'. Yet people are prepared to pay one or two pounds more simply because the packaging isn't 'cheapy'.My sig's too large, apparently - so apologies to whoever's space I was taking up.:lipsrseal0

earwig wrote:so why is it when you buy the cheeper one it taste compleatly different to the normall one my mum has the basic corn beef and i have the sainsburry own corn beef the taste a lot different the basic one has more fat in it you can see this just by looking and the slice is bigger and it dosnt taste nice at all the sainsburry own one has hardly any fat showning on it the slices are smaller but it taste nicer if it was a case of shops useing the same product just in different packaging isnt that miss selling you somthing and against the law
Personally I don't find they do taste different. And I wouldn't know about the law, but whether it's mis-selling or not, it happens! My sig's too large, apparently - so apologies to whoever's space I was taking up.:lipsrseal0 -
I shop at Iceland because of the free home delivery if you spend 25 quid. Some of their own brand stuff is rubbish, but some of it is pretty good IMO - and their clear labelling policies mean that for someone like me (a vegetarian that also likes to avoid too much 'junk' additives in their food) its quick and easy to decide what to buy / what not to.
I buy my fresh stuff from either Tesco or the Co-Op.
If you can find food you like from there, I do think that Iceland are cheaper.DFW Nerd No. 140

I shopped at Iceland for the first time in years and wish I hadn't bothered.(Used to go there when they did organic veg for the same price as ordinary - so long ago I can hardly remember!) Bought burgers and frozen savoury rice which the kids used to love and they all turned their noses up at it. I think ther quality has taken a dive in recent years so its back to Aldi for us and to Tesco for what Aldi don't sell.I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.

I do my main shop at Tesco and Lidl and veg shop at local market, but I do pop into Iceland for certain things- their washing up liquid (2 for a pound) is pretty good- and works diluted to half strength, which I've found Tesco's own isn't as good at. Cheese is marginally cheaper in my local Iceland too, and it doesn't taste too bad. If you drink fruit squash they often have big bottles for £1 too. Generally I think it depends on what kind of stuff you eat- as always, its best to shop around as much as possible for the best deals. I go as far as going to Siansbury's just for canned chickpeas(they do three cans for a quid), but I suppose it depends where you live and how an@l you want to get about it!"People who "do things" exceed my endurance,

They have closed down our local branch of Iceland, which was not well patronised, and it has been replaced with M & S food store which is always heaving.
Does that say anything about Iceland?I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
