JUst want to know if anyone can recommend Iceland above Tesco to keep shopping bill down? I've seen lots of "cheap" offers in Iceland and they seem to "round" costs up to exact pounds, but how do they fare in terms of cost, value and taste compared to my usual- Tesco?
Married my wonderful husband February 2013!:happyhear
I want to wear my beautiful wedding dress everyday- it would make shopping so much more fun, I mean, people go shopping in their pyjamas these days.......
Must STOP spending!!!

Proud to be dealing with my debts!

Personally, unless it's branded I don't rate Iceland v high. They used to do basketfuls of stuff for £10!!!!! but unless you like frozen roast pots, mixed veg, yukky apple pie & cheap icecream it's not much good!
I prefer the likes of Tesco, Morrisons, buying BOGOFs etc, and Lidl, Aldi & Netto for other stuff.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

I would have to agree. Tesco wins hands down for me.
Icelands stuff is relatively cheap, but quality is not great. I sometimes pop in for a change of scenery but not that often!
:heartpuls CG :heartpulsEver wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.0 -
Its a couple of years since I've been in there but isnt Iceland full of processed food/ready meals. I dont rate Tesco much either to be honest though in terms of food quality - much prefer Morrisons. The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0

I wouldnt say Iceland is full of processed food/ready meals, they sell ready meals/processed foods like any other supermarket doesNo Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20 -
I popped into Iceland this afternoon for the first time in years. I just needed a couple of quick bits to top up my pic nic basket (two extra persons came along unexpectadly). We had the food - sausage rolls, ham, salad and sausages - but it was really poor in comparison to what the rest of the stuff I had already from Tesco and Marks and Spencer.
I don't think I'll be going again in a rush. It was cheaper yes but the taste was lacking and I am not sure the quality compared well either.Leason learnt :beer:0 -
I have all manner of supermarkets near me, but I only go into Iceland to buy Quorn mince, which is cheaper than in any of the others.
Netto for some household cleaning stuff and odds and ends.
I've been able to bring my grocery bill down considerably by popping into each store for the things I want from them.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
I think Iceland is cheap but the quality of meat is often pants, I once read the ingredients on a roast turkey thing and I'm sure meat wasn't an ingredient it was just cr*p. tescos seems to be better quality.May 2015 £10 a day currently £2080

Iceland do have some good offers on branded goods (Heinz soup and the like) and as has been mentioned Quorn products but the quality of their own name products is really quite poor.0

I'm not overly fussed at the crap that I eat, provided it's diet compatible (meat and fat). You can't really get meat too wrong, and as I'm nowhere near a fussy eater, suits me fine.
But, I still tend to shop more at Tesco and Lidl, even though admittedly there is a little extra inconvenience distance-wise. But Tesco is cheaper (well, free for R&R ) and Lidl just goes crazy on some prices every week you're stupid to ignore it (have you subscribed to their newsletter??).
But, thanks for the nudge, I'm tempted to pop in again soon and have a nose. Never say never!0
