Can I step up and have a rant and ask for some paper trimmer advice.
I have just faffed about for nearly an hour trying to mat a photo with about a 2-3cm border and each time I've cut the mat, it's cut it wonky.:mad::mad::mad: That's why I buy Nesties.
Can anyone suggest a good paper/card trimmer or even a good small one for this type of cutting. It has to be able to cut dead straight and sharp. I bought a Martha Stewart trimmer when I was on holiday in January but it will not cut a slither of paper, the blades get blunt very quickly on card stock. I think there's a small guillotine style out there, has anyone seen it please?. I've got the pink X-cut at work and I'll try that this morning.
Off to look for cake, I'm fed up(any excuse!)
I'm the same Wifey, does yer 'ead in don't it!. I have three trimmers altogether. A big guillotine (not sure if it's Dahl, it's blue anyway) that cost about £30+ when I bought it a few years ago, a Carl rotary trimmer (that was about £60 including all the fancy cutting wheels) and a mini guillotine that was cheap, about £5. Not one of them cuts perfectly straight no matter how hard I try.
I got OH to have a go and, being a man and more technically minded, he says at those prices they are not "precision" instruments that are properly calibrated - shruggy shoulders smiley would be good here, as that goes over my head, I just want to cut straight :rotfl: . Anyway as the edge on the trimmer you butt your card up to might not be exactly 90 degrees with the cutting edge, there's a strong possibility it's not cutting a proper right angle, and the more you turn and trim your card the more it will go wonky.
Blimey, I'm going on a bit.
My answer - if it looks wonky on the first cut give up with the guillotine and go back to good old ruler, knife and cutting mat.dragonllew wrote: »Morning all I have more exciting news I have been picked for Stamping Dragon DT:j

Good morning everyone
Tom's Mum - congrat on the win!
paddinton - love the new challenge, apologies to marg, Ididn't take part in the last one in the end because I was going to enter the butterfly card I made but decided against as I wasn't really happy with it and didn't think it was good enough.
Been playing this morning trying to make paper shirts and tie (want to make a Father's Day card) but seem to be all fingers and thumbs.
Hope everyone is feeling better today (the sunshine has gotta help at least!) I'm back on anti b's again (2 weeks after the last lot) after a funny turn again with my chest last week. Went back to the doctor and he said I hadn't shaken off the pnemonia so we are trying different ones now.
Rusty - hope you aren't in as much pain today
Sorry if I have missed anyone out, I read through earlier and now cant remember who said what!
