I swear i will get on here properly I have tons to blog and want to get back into doing the callenges but i wondered if there was anyone that is any good with the mine field that is copyright it is for a friend she makes water colour pictures and has had some very harsh words from people reguarding her work. She is now very worried and contacted someone about copyright and they told her she can not do what she is doing.
Basicly she paints a picture of the customers choice and the childs name. She doesn't copy anything directly but if she paints from memory say a disney chacter is that copyright? She has been told so many different things like yes it is copyright and she can't sell anymore but she has also been told it's ok if she changes at least 5 things then it isn't copyright.Diff companys say diff things.
We have a stall this sunday and she is very worried and is considering not attending now. There is an example of her work on my blog.:)Mummy to 2 wonderful boysWant to be fit for 30 not fat at 30but i want never gets!!!0 -
Soma sounds like a brilliant birthday but the mind boggles at bellydancing and peel-offs, was it the dance of the seven 'happy birthdays' stickers???
We've got a lady in our chapter who's a belly dancer and she has a fab time.
:rotfl: not exactly - the dancing and crafting were seperate activities. If I have arabic music on while I'm craft I do tend to bop at the same time0 -
Louby, you are right, it is a minefield. I've not heard about changing five things so that the iamge portrayed is different but I know Disney does protect it's copyright to the nth degree. Can I suggest a bit of detective work and check out the CD's of Disney characters and see what angel policy they operate regarding the images they use and the cards and other things you can make with them, can it all be for just personal use? I can't remember who does them tho.
For the price of a Disney CD your friend could use those and even if she adds anything extra she may be ok. Perhaps even making sure that the copyright sign and Disney's logo is shown may go towards everything being right. Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the ground each morning the devil says, "OH CARP, SHE'S UP"! :whistle:0 -
Afternoon all, Thanks for the good wishes regarding the weather yesterday PONR it poured untill about 2 hours before the event and then the sun came out:j and there were over 5000 people and we did reach the whole of the way.:j I bet it must have been the longest mexican wave too as some one started that and I could see it waving its way off into the distance and I am told it did get to the end in Lossiemouth.
Its back to torrential rain again now so I am settling down to a crafting afternoon before my craft group tonight.
Hugs to all0 -
Hello all,
I'm a novice cardmaker, although I'm currently waiting on a delivery from madaboutcards which should help me to get my Christmas cardmaking projects started.
I have seen some really professional looking ones, but have no idea where to start. Any links/ideas would be very welcome, especially for things that you feel you can't live without as a cardmaker.
I'm currently waiting to get an old colour printer from a friend to print off some papers that I have found for free online and then my winters evenings will be getting more crafty0 -

Hi and welcome
My must have would be a good craft knife, cutting board and good scissors, there is nothing worse than working hard on a project and the "chewing" the paper at the last second. You tube is a good bet for some "how to" tips, is there any paticular type of card you prefer?0 -
Hi! flying fresian, welcome to the friendly place, please don't hesitate to ask any question however daft you might think it is someone usually comes along and can help. If you check under our names you should see a link to our 'home page' aka usually our blogs where you can pick up ideas or ask where certain things have been bought. We are always happy to help.
That's good advice from OAP. Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the ground each morning the devil says, "OH CARP, SHE'S UP"! :whistle:0 -
