Just checked and it is the deep edge one which is the one I have and it is lovely. I use it on nearly every card I make!!!!
Thanks for that I will make sure I get the right one. I have wanted it for ages and seeing it on your cards has just confirmed it. Hope you get your foot sorted ouch.

CGCockcroft - Have a fabby holiday, is it two more sleeps before you go??
[/QUOTE]
it is now 3 sleeps til we go! excited but apprehensive, brother has gone all weird and not very pleasant. not sure if he isn't keen on being organised or what ( the rest of us have been quite OCD about it, but you can't just turn up to Orlando and wing it can you?) i'm sure it'll be ok, his girls will make the holiday for us and i'm the cool aunty who does fun stuff so it should be ok. the fact that the rest of the family going also think he is being weird is helpful!
but back to the craft!

I have been meaning to ask you about the discount vouchers, as I plan on doing a 'bit' of craft shopping over there
where do you hunt them out from as I have seen some amazing coupons mentioned in various places (for Michaels I think) but not sure how to obtain them? thanks

To Gemm and cgcockcroft!!!!
Firstly sign up for the discount vouchers on Michaels and Joannes - check they have stores in the area that you staying in of course!!!!
I found most things to be the same price in dollars as it is here in pounds ie $5 - £5 so already cheaper even though the exchange rate is pants right now. So if you can get discount vouchers then you get super deals. They only allow 1 voucher per visit so pan how to get the best value first!!! I usually print off several and go several times and have been known to go to a different assistant on the same day!! You can use Michaels vouchers in Joannes and vice versa.
Things that are good buys with vouchers
MS Punches and Scorboard
Backing sheets in pad form, much cheaper!!
Other punches
Ribbons
Fabric
Stamps
Also both shops get lots of things for $1 like reels of ribbon.
Walmart has a nice craft section - not huge and not so cheap as no vouchers!!! I got some good fabric here that had been reduced.
Look for dollar shops as they usually get cheap craft bits in also. The E-mail of the species is more deadly than the mail.0 -
cgcockcroft you will love craft shopping in Florida! Make sure you leave plenty of space/spare weight in your suitcase for your purchases! I just came back from Florida a few weeks ago. My Great Auntie lives there. My Mam & I bought mostly MS punches. We got them from Walmart (some were reduced to $7.00!) & from Michaels. The Joanns that we went to didn't stock MS! I must admit though, Joanns is my favourite shop. I could spend all day in there! Try to get to one of the Joanns Superstores. We go to the one in Tampa as it is the one closest to my Aunties. From what I can remember we bought nestabilities, K&co paper pad & stickers, glossy accents & dew drop ink pads. Everything is so much cheaper over there & there is so much choice. If you go on the Joanns website, you can use the store locator to find all the stores in Florida & they have the weekly sales flyers for each store on the same page. If you spot a Big Lots they sometimes have craft things in for next to nothing. We got a load of brads for less than a dollar. Hope you have a fab time. I'm so jealous, I want to go back! x0

HI peeps, any ideas on my following problem (I know that it's not card making, but I've bee told that you crafty lot may be able to advise me...
I'm planning on making various wooden shabby chick painted gifts for Christmas. E.g. wooden tree decorations/ door hangers/ ummm and more things when I think of them. Anyhoo, my problem is this...having painted the items (two coats with wat layer in middle where I don't want 2nd layer to stick after sanding) and then sanded a bit to give a shabby chick look I am wanting to write on them, but can't get a nice pen to write on them. Tried generic permanent marker and Sharpies and they just refuse to work after the 1st letter I write GRRRRRrrrr.
Is there a special paint I should be using (used emulsion on some and acrylic on others - both with terrible results) or is there an idiot proof pen that will write on these.0 -
