    Gorgeous buys Char!

Anyone got exciting plans for the bank holiday?
I had a bit of a bad day yesterday so hoping that today is better! Going up to Tesco with Mum to do the food shop and then best friend is meeting me there and taking me for coffee + a catch up as I haven't seen her properly in over a week, bar 10 mins on my birthday.
If the weather holds we'll have a slow wander around the "May Fair" that hasn't changed since I was 3 :p there is an afternoon car boot sale though, I don't hold out much hope of anything decent given previous years, you never know!

Dad had a good birthday yesterday :) He loved his police mole I had made for him
He's so hard to please, yet always requests I think of something myself because of my "quirky and personal tastes"
He also devoured half his cake himself as he loved it so much! He's got friends coming over later for nibbles and a few drinks so saved the rest for that!

Yay I'm glad the cake and the present went down well, daisy !!

I don't really have anything planned, I've not done any of the washing/housework what with being away so need to get that done this morning, after a run, and then the rest of the day I'm not sure..I've got
lots of sewing projects to finish, but if it's sunny it seems a shame not to go outside..maybe I'll see whAt some of my friends are up to..could always try out the mini BBQ set I got from tesco in the garden if it's still nice later on..

Yes was proud of those bargains, also got a wooden triangular shaped floral bangle from topshop which I've liked for ages so finally succumbed...

Pale blue dress with cherry print, and white buttons
    cropped oversized floral tee
red / white candy striped pumps with bows. All from river island

    then from priamrk:
    floral tulip skirt
    couple of floral print vests
another new pair of pjs, as I've got rid of a few recently
    peach coloured pumps with bows
    floral sunglasses
    new nude tights
floral dress with cross cross effect at the back

hmm. A lot of florals :-/

Evening girls. I've so nearly finished this dress that I thought I would take some photos now. I just need to put a lining in the skirt as it's a teeny bit see through. The top is lined though.

I'm so pleased for a first attempt. I just need to hope that nobody recognises their duvet!

Is that out of the Tescos duvet? Im really suprised as I didnt think it would sit with the material but it looks really good :)

Wow, great response on the dress, thank you. It's only going to be a holiday or loafing around the garden dress as it's way shorter than I'd planned!

Tara, you'll get there soon, I'm lucky that I'm not much of a choccie eater, how are you doing on that front, I've not been keeping up with your thread?

DB - Glad your dad liked his pressy and cake, I can't believe he ate half of it already, what a piggy!

Lost - My Dh has to work all BH too so I feel your pain, even worse when everyone else is all having fun with their families.

PF - Going to see what you bought now...

Retro/Tara - Yes it's that duvet set! The reverse fabric I used for the center panel at the front as I'd cut it too small! and for the straps. I think you were right about it not working for a maxi dress though it's a bit stiff but it might soften a little after washing so I haven't totally rulled it out.

I am going to make so bags and book covers etc some of the rest. I love all he different patterns in it and for £2 bargain!

Excellent purchases PF. Did your friend perk up at all or was she moody the whole day? Did you ask her if something was up, she might be having personal problems.
I love the bag but I could never buy a clutch as I would definitely put it down somewhere and lose it! I bought a couple of satchel type bags in Primark recently and I love that they are there and I can be hands free!
The dress is so pretty, I like the shape a lot, how do you iron a bubble hem though, another thing I've been unsure about buying?

Vicki, I usually just do little sections at a time to iron dresses with odd shapes, but I know what you mean, can be quite tricky..

I've always preferred clutch bags, I think I'm odd in that I hardly take anything with me in a bag, usually just keys phone and purse..so I do find I use little bags quite often..

And she was quite grumpy all day, I kinda wish I left her to get up in her own time and meet me in town, but I didn't think 11 was particularly early to leave..we didn't go out after the gig on sat as it was raining quite badly, so we just went straight back to the hotel and so she was asleep by 11.30!
So I don't think she could have had too little sleep. Ugh.
