Don't quite know what you mean Retro - what's the other thread about?

Sorry if I've worded anything in such a way that offfends anyone, it wasn't intentional.

ETA - the revolting comment is something that's purely based on my personal feelings, by the way. I'm full of admiration for parents, I really am - there's just no way I could do it.

the anyone child free by choice one Lost.....I totally agree that there are tons of insenstive comments made to those who dont want kids...I would never dream of saying to my closest friend (or anyone one here) some of the things I heard some others say to her...she doesnt want any end of story...but at the same time I wouldnt be friends with her if she was the type to say that having kids is a waste of time and they are something to feel repulsed/ disgusted about...Im all for people doing what they feel is right with thier lives but I dont like it when others look down their nose at me for making a choice that I feel is right for my life iykwim?

Not saying anyones done that here...Im just too sensitive I think...I think I should shut up now...and stop looking at that other thread lol

oh, I haven't seen that I don't think...or maybe I did and didn't really register it? I would steer clear of it. Its obviously likely to contain some posts which will upset a parent ! (and some non parents!)

I think the look down the nose thing is hard. I can't honestly say I've never looked down my nose at someone, though I try hard not to and to be conscious of why I might have less ''understanding'' feelings about them/choices...but honestly? Yes, I do sometimes judge people, I'm not sure but I think everyone does at times, but over different things. (I nee a confused smilie or the shruggy one back!)

retro, none of my comments were meant in that way!!
i've come to the conclusion that if / when i'm ready for that in the future, i'll consider the how's then..my experiences last year really did open up my thoughts to things i'd not considered before, and i went through a really depressed phase, but i think that was partly the circs and the fact we could see tht our relationship was cracking away..which was a hard thing for us to come to terms with..
but i respect everypone's decisions when it comes to having kids, as it is something that only you can decide what is right for you / what you want..i don't believe anyone else has a rigfht to make that choiuce for you..

As much as I love you girls I really hope this isnt going to turn into a erm debate like the one on the CFBC thread as to be honest a lot of thise things said on there really upset me......I am all for freedom of choice and I dont believe at all if you say you dont want kids now that you will automatically change your mind when you hit a certain age, but I dont know if I would want to sit here and hear some of "those" types of comments iyswim?

Sorry maybe being too sensitive but I get tons of comments especially having 3 (and 2 different dads) that my hackles get up with these things....

I don't know that thread, but I'm sure we would never be like that here... we're too nice! :D
Not sure which thread you mean retro? I think the thing is for some of us freedom of choice isn't really the issue, we can't: there is no or little choice and have to come to terms with it. I think its better to do this in a positive..what we can do with out lives way, than a negative way...
I can see why some of it might feel insensitive, but tbf, there is a lot of insensitivity over those who don't have kids too. I feel really, really uncomfortable when people ask if we are trying, or when we are going to have kids...the truth is a bit of a downer, and the alternatives untrue or flippant.

I hope we can all stay friends and open and respectful of different stances here. :)

Gosh yes, it's so insensitive when people do that. :(

Me too, I didn't mean that I was revolted by babies, just the preggers bit! :o And even that may not be enough to stop me wanting to try and have one sometime. *And* I really really admire parents too, you must all have endless reserves of patience and love :) Sorry anyway, hope I didn't offend anyone xoxoxoxoxoxoxo
