Someone talk some sense into me. Do I need to buy this dress or do I just want it? There's a 20% off New Look code knocking about so it would only be £20. However if I'm still losing weight is there any point buying loads of size 16 dresses that hopefully will start to be too big soon?

that is gorgeous Alex, and with dresses...well I often buy them in a size bigger than I am so I can layer under them, even with just a vest...so if you really love it and will wear it a lot, I say go for it, as you'll be able to belt it/layer it when your smaller :o

    (wrong answer?) :p

It's a lovely dress Alex, and if you feel you will get the wear out of it now then as daisy says you can always layer it up or cinch it in if it gets too big. (I often buy skirts one or two sizes too big so I can wear them on the hip rather than the waist.)

Have my huge order through from La Redoute, tights are good, managed a pair of jeans and some grey trousers and two casual jumpers. Can someone in the know please explain to me though, how is it I can order a vest top in one size and have it absolutely dripping off my frame but a blouse a size bigger won't even fit across my back?? Also I am very cross that the lovely boots I ordered are pull on style and my foot won't go into them because of my stupid high instep.

  • The postman's just been with a gorgeous purple checked skirt I won on ebay the other day, but guess what? When I've opened it, it's a purple top!
I know how it happened because the person selling it had put the same title on two different items and I even thought about asking them to make sure I got the right thing but forgot. I'm kicking myself now.

I last ordered from La Redoute about 10 years ago. The sizing inconsistency was too great. Its why I'm really really wary about mail order/online clothes purchases. I don't always try on in shops but I can see if something is really, wildly out...

I don't think this works as well when you are a bit bigger :( layers add bulk often, and n a shorter dress the hang isn't as good (drape over curves is tricky)...

It is however a very pretty dress. Alex, how well off are you for clothes ATM? You might be a size smaller soon, is it worth making an aspirational purchase?

Alex that dress looks to have a shirred waistline which means it should shrink in with you. It's a lovely dress and you should treat yourself =)
